Simple Card – Perfect for a Man

I have a simple card to share with you today using the Waterfront stamp set from Stampin’ Up! The card is showing a view of a forest lake and has no sentiment so can be used for multiple occasions.

A simple card using the waterfront stamp set from Stampin' Up!
A simple card using the waterfront stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

This stamp set has been sitting on my shelf for the last year, unloved and unused and I have decided that is changing. I am determined to use all my sets this year and not let any retire uninked.

The Waterfront set creates a scene. This can be a simple one as shown above or a more complex one with layered elements. I have to admit that this is not my normal style and it took ages to come up with something I was happy with.

Measurement

  • Thick Whisper White – A6 Cardbase (A6 is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Real Red – 10cm x 14.35cm

I have not given measurements for the other pieces because I stamped the scene first and then cut it out. The mat pieces are cut 0.5 larger each way than the next piece. I hope that makes sense. If not, there is the video below showing exactly how to do this.

My question for you today is what is your favourite style of card? Do you prefer a scene card, one with a large sentiment or a floral one? Let me know in the comments below!!

Everything Amazing Birthday Card

I have this easy and simple birthday card to share with you today using the Everything Amazing stamp set. This is a great set as you can customise your sentiment around the main word Amazing.

The Everything Amazing stamp set from Stampin' Up! is used for this simple birthday card
The Everything Amazing stamp set from Stampin’ Up! is used for this simple birthday card

I love everything about this card. It is simple and elegant. I love Bermuda Bay which is the colour in the background. The stamp stamps a shaded grey rather than jet black but I prefer the jet black as it gives better contrast and makes the sentiment pop. I coloured it in with the black stampin’ write marker.

measurements

  • A6 card base is thick whisper white. (A6 is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Bermuda Bay Designer Series Paper (DSP) Brights family stack – 14.35cm x 10cm

I love big bold sentiments such as this one as I feel they are everything a simple card needs to make them stand out.

What type of cards do you like? Do you prefer everything simple and streamlined or do you prefer a more detailed style with embellishments? Let me know below!!

I am really glad that is has cooled down at last. Normally, I cope with the heat fine but when it gets over 30 degrees with the high humidity we experience in the UK that is pushing it. My maternal family is from South Africa. I find the dry heat in Pretoria much easier to cope with and can be in long sleeves still at 25 degrees. Consequently, I haven’t done much crafting this week and my videos may be a few days delayed.

Punched Circles – Birthday Card

This is a simple and easy card made using punched circles in varying sizes. This is a great way to use up all your scrap pieces of cardstock and make something beautiful as well.

Punched Circle Birthday Card using supplies from Stampin' Up!
Punched Circle Birthday Card using supplies from Stampin’ Up!

I love this card as it uses minimal supplies but gives a great wow effect. As it makes use of punched circles, it is a perfect card to make with young children.

The theme of this card is circles. You can make a huge variety of matching stationery such as invitations, envelopes and goody bags. I truly believe that we need to get kids involved when they are young in various crafts so that these skills and hobbies aren’t lost. I know I would much prefer a child playing with ink and paper than stuck in front of a tv.

Measurements

  • Real Red card stock – A6 card base (A6 is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

I think this type of card would also work with different coloured punched butterflies. I am going to try it and if it works I will share it with you.

Primary colours make this card sing. Primary colours are red, blue and yellow and the contrast and complement each other perfectly. Secondary colours are orange, green and purple. The colour wheel does help to match colours together.

I love to use coloured card bases with a white mat that gives a little border around the card. Do you use coloured card bases or do you prefer white? I like to frame my images on my card as I feel it just makes the whole project look more complete.

Tea Bag Holder – Cute little gift for someone special

I have a cute little tea bag holder to share with you today. This is a simple and easy project for any beginner crafter. This little wallet holds two tea bags and will make a lovely little gift.

Tea Bag holder/wallet for someone special made using supplies from Stampin' Up!
Tea Bag holder/wallet for someone special made using supplies from Stampin’ Up!

I am not a huge tea drinker but will drink a couple of cups a day, usually one with breakfast and later on in the evening. The British in general are a nation of tea drinkers. I swear sometimes that this country runs on tea alone. If we were to run out of tea it would a national emergency!!

This wallet holds two tea bags but could equally hold some business cards or even as my mother suggested her bus pass!!

Measurements

  • Rich Razzleberry cardstock
    • 6 1/4″ X 3 1/2″, scored at 3″ on each side on the 6 1/4″ side
    • 4″ X 2″ X2 pieces scored at 1/2″ on both short sides and one long side
  • Rich Razzleberry Family Designer Series Pack
    • 3 1/4″ x 2 3/4″ X 1
      • 2 3/4″ x 1 1/4″ X 2

I find people appreciate little gifts like this to brighten up their day. It is amazing how something small makes someone’s day.

My question for you today is what is your favourite drink? Do you prefer tea or coffee? I personally find coffee too bitter and don’t like adding a ton of sweetener to make it drinkable. Neither of my parents drank coffee and so I suppose in some ways it is a learned habit.

I have a video tutorial with the accompanying supply list as usual.

Whatever you are doing today I hope you have a great day and until next time Enjoy Being Creative!!

Rose Birthday Card – A Beautiful Friendship

I am sharing this beautiful rose birthday card with you today, which is made using my favourite colour, Melon Mambo. I love this pink as does my mother. The vibrant bold colour shouts out to you.

Rose Birthday card using the Beautiful Friendship stamp set from Stampin' Up!
Floral Birthday card using the Beautiful Friendship stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

I have used the Beautiful Friendship stamp set from Stampin’ Up! which is a gorgeous stamp set with a lovely mix of images and sentiments. I love the two rose like images that I have used here. Normally roses aren’t my favourite flower but I do love them on this card.

We have a beautiful climbing red rose outside the front door. This year, it has flowered the best of the 4 summers we have been in Lincoln. It was packed with gorgeous big red roses and of course lots of thorns!!

I like this card as it is so simple to make. It really is just ink, stamps and paper. I have stamped the floral images using ink pads but they could have equally have been stamped using the Stampin’ Write markers. I have used the markers again to stamp the leaves. The markers are very useful as I can use them to colour in, stamp and watercolour paint. I love tools that are so versatile and give me more “bang for my buck”.

measurements

  • A6 Melon Mambo card base – (A6 is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

I had a look online and found out that white roses stand for purity and innocence. In total contrast, a red rose means passion and love whereas a pink rose stands for appreciation or perfect happiness. I felt this was symbolic for a birthday card. A birthday is a day that hopefully brings you happiness and a day to appreciate that you have made another year.

I have a video and supply list below as usual.

Mini Album – One Sheet Wonder

Mini Album made from one sheet of 12″ X 12″ cardstock with supplies from Stampin’ Up!

I have a mini album to share with you today. This is a great one sheet wonder project that uses only one sheet of 12″ x 12″ cardstock for the basic construction. I first found this project online when I became a demo back in 2012. I’ve tried to find my original source but it’s too long ago now.

Mini Album - One Sheet Wonder using supplies from Stampin' Up!
Mini Album – One Sheet Wonder using supplies from Stampin’ Up!

Mini Album – One Sheet Wonder using supplies from Stampin’ Up!

This mini-album can hold tags, little photos, sentiment quotes, really whatever you fancy. It is a great size to carry around as it fits into your hand well.

The paper used is the Pressed Petals speciality DSP which is thinner than our normal DSP but really great for projects such as this. You get 24 sheets in a pack so you have plenty of paper to use as you so wish.

There is a video tutorial for this great project and the supply list below.

My question for today is what is your favourite type of papercraft? Do you prefer to make cards, scrapbooking, mini albums or something else?

Inspiring Iris – Birthday Card Tutorial

I have a floral card to share with you today featuring this beautiful Inspiring Iris stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

Inspiring Iris Birthday Card using supplies from Stampin' Up!
Inspiring Iris Birthday Card using supplies from Stampin’ Up!

I love this stamp set. Inspiring Iris is a two-step stamp set but I have chosen to colour it freehand with a blender pen and Stampin Write markers. I love purple irises as they are so vibrant and strong. I used to see them every year when I went to the Chelsea Flower Show as they are the backbone of many gardens.

The colour Gorgeous Grape is divine because it’s such a deep and majestic colour. I would love to have a dress in this colour with silver heels. If I can find some wool in this colour I might knit myself a winter hat. I can knit and would like to get back into knitting as well as my paper crafting.

measurements

  • Gorgeous Grape Cardstock – A6 card base – (A4 sheet cut in half on the long edge, and then folded in half on the long side)
  • Whisper White Cardstock – 14.35cm x 10cm

As previously mentioned I coloured this in with a blender pen and the Stampin’ Write Markers. I put some colour down on a stamping block with a marker and then picked it with the blender pen. You can see this in more detail in the accompanying video below.

So my question for today is what is your favourite medium to colour in with? Do you prefer alcohol markers, watercolour pencils or Stampin’ Write Markers?

Cat in the Box – Cute little Gift Box

Today I have a cute little gift box perfect for any cat lover. This project features the Nine Lives stamp set from Stampin’ Up! and the matching cat punch. I love sets with punches because they make creating so easy and simple.

Cute Cat gift box using the Nine Lives stamp set and matching punch from Stampin' Up!
Cute Cat gift box using the Nine Lives stamp set and matching punch from Stampin’ Up!

I love cats but am highly allergic to many of them, especially if they have longer hair. The shorter the hair the better. When I worked in London I used to be a finance office in social services and spent a good part of my week visiting clients at home. I was walking down a street and saw this gorgeous moggy with long hair and couldn’t resist stroking it. It was a big mistake as I must have touched my eye afterwards. Within half an hour my eye closed up. YIKES!!! I, therefore, have to love them from afar.

This cute little box is made from gorgeous grape cardstock and the matching designer series paper (DSP) family packs.

measurements

  • Gorgeous Grape cardstock 9 x 6 inches, scored on the long side at 2, 3 1/2, 5 1/2 & 7 inches. Scored on the short side at 1 1/2 inches on either side.
  • Brights family pack DSP
    • 2 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches x 1
    • 2 3/4 x 1 1/4 inches x 1
    • 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 inches x 2

The Nine Lives stamp set is a two-step stamp set which allows you to stamp the cat with different markings. This is fabulous as all cats have such different and distinctive markings. If you are a dog person there is a set called Happy Tails also with a matching punch!!!

As usual, the video tutorial is below along with the supply list. My question for today is are you more a cat person or a dog person and why? Leave me a comment below.

Until next time, Enjoy Being Creative!!!

Tulips and Windmills Thank You Card

Tulips are my favourite flower. I love this simple watercoloured thank you card using the Winds of Change stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

Tulips are gorgeous or at least I think so. I love to see the first Tulips in the shops in early Spring and bring home a bunch for the hall table. They are beautiful even when they are going on when I feel they look almost like orchids.

We also have tulips in the back garden every year. The breadth of shapes and shapes are amazing. When I loved in London we used to go every year to the Chelsea Flower Show and I have hundreds of pictures of tulips from the amazing nurseries in the Great Pavilion.

Tulips and Windmills. Thank you card using the Winds of Change stamp set from Stampin' Up!
Thank you card using the Winds of Change stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

When I first saw the Winds of Change stamp set in the catalogue I fell in love. It is my style of stamp set. I love to watercolour and actually got into paper crafting through watercolouring. I find it an easy medium to colour with and it is very forgiving of mistakes.

measurements

There are no measurements for this card except the card base which is a standard A6 card base in Balmy Blue. I stamped the image of the tulips and windmill and then cut out my piece of shimmery white cardstock depending on how I stamped and coloured the image.

I adore these little Design Elements that I have used to embellish the bottom of the card. They are metal and so versatile. They remind me of cogs in the windmill and would be great on a steampunk card.

The video is below along with the supply list.

My question for today is what is your favourite flower and why? Let me know in the comment section.

GateFold Card – Magnolia Lane

I have a gatefold card to share with you today using the ever lovely Magnolia Lane designer series paper (DSP). Generally speaking, I’m not a fan of fancy folds with lots of frills and trims. I prefer to play with colour and texture. I gave it go and I’m quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Gate fold card using the Magnolia Lane designer series paper from Stampin' Up!
Gate fold card using the Magnolia Lane designer series paper from Stampin’ Up!

I love the Magnolia Lane DSP. Currently, I’m making a paper bag mini album using this paper and have nearly finished my first packet so am off to order more shortly.

measurements

  • Mossy Meadow cardstock – A5 – (A5 is just an A4 sheet cut in half on the long side) – Score at 5.25cm on each side – I just used my trimmer to score it.
  • Magnolia Lane DSP – 10cm x 14.35cm
  • Whisper White cardstock – 10cm x 14.35cm

I’ve used the coordinating stamp set Good Morning Magnolia to stamp some flowers and foliage on the inside of this gatefold card. These stamps lend themselves beautifully to being coloured in with the Stampin Blends. I really enjoyed this part of the card as I adore colouring in.

I’m not sure I will do another gatefold card as I found it difficult to decorate and I don’t feel it’s my style. Do you have a particular style? Let me know in the comments.
