Poppy Birthday Box – Peaceful Poppies

This poppy birthday box is a coordinating piece to the birthday card I posted below. I’ve used different patterns from the Peaceful Poppies designer series paper (DSP) to make this box. I think it turned out super cute. What do you think?

Poppy Birthday Box – Peaceful Poppies

I especially love the pattern above with the red poppies against the blue background. It is so pretty. I’ve always thought blue and red go very well together.

The sentiment used here is the same as the card I posted on Wednesday. The stamp set is Peaceful Moments and has some great sentiments. I’ve used the circle punches so that you need no dies to make this box.

measurements

  • Poppy Parade – 8″ X 8″ scored at 2″ on all sides
  • Peaceful Poppies DSP – 7 1/16″ X 7 1/16″ scored at 1 1/2″ on all sides

I’ve made this box before using the Magnolia Lane DSP and Mossy Meadow cardstock last year and thought I would make it again. It is a very simple and easy box to make and can be made in bulk easily. I also must say I love the Poppy Parade textured weave ribbon. I have a few reels of it and just have not been using it so I want to change that too.

Birdie Happy Birthday – Bird Ballad – Stampin’ Up!

I have this Birdie Happy Birthday card to share with you today. This week I’m focusing on simple and easy cardmaking for the beginner or occasional crafter. I think this turned really well and lets the paper do all the talking.

Birdie Happy Birthday - Bird Ballad - Stampin' Up!
Birdie Happy Birthday – Bird Ballad – Stampin’ Up!

The cardbase is Pool Party. I’ve matted the designers series paper (DSP) on whisper white so that it will stand out from the cardbase. This is the ever-gorgeous Bird Ballad DSP. I have used quite a bit of it but still have loads left and am looking for ideas to use it up. Let me know if you have any ideas to use it besides making more cards.

The stamp set is another favourite of mine Perennial Birthday. I love the font and it is the perfect size for cardmaking. If it retires this year, I will be so sad. Do you have any favourite stamp sets? What are they?

measurements

  • Pool Party A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm
  • Bird Ballad DSP – 13.85cm x 9cm
  • Pool Party – 9.5cm x 3cm
  • Whisper White 9cm x 2.5cm

I love this project as it so simple and can be made by anyone. I hope you liked it too. The video tutorial and supply list are below. Thank you for stopping by and until next time Enjoy Being Creative!!

Bright and Fun Card – So Sentimental – Stampin’ Up!

I have this bright and fun card to share you today. Pineapple Punch and Grapefruit Grove are the two colours here. I can unequivocally state these are not my favourite colours at all. I find each colour on its own a bit too much so I came up with this idea and I think it works well. What do you think?

Bright and Fun Card - So Sentimental - Stampin' Up!
Bright and Fun Card – So Sentimental – Stampin’ Up!

The pop of black around the sentiment and the large sentiment itself, I think really help to pull the whole card together. What pleased me the most though, was that I got to use up some of my Happiness Blooms enamel dots in the matching colours.

If you hold card classes I think this is also a great idea. You don’t have to have enough of each paper to make a full card, you can mix and match and everyone still can make the same style card.

measurements

  • Thick Whisper White A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm X 10cm
  • Grapefruit Grove and Pineapple Punch Designer Series Paper (DSP) 14.35cm x 10cm. Each piece is then cut into quarters.

Power of Hope – Sale-a-bration Set – Stampin’ Up!

The Power of Hope stamp set is a free set in sale-a-bration. I have found in previous years that I haven’t used all the sets I get in sale-a-bration but I am changing that this year.

Power of Hope - Sale-a-bration Set - Stampin' Up!
Power of Hope – Sale-a-bration Set – Stampin’ Up!

This stamp set has an oriental feel to it. I, therefore, decided to use Popp Parade as the main colour. Power of Hope wasn’t a favourite of mine when I got it but I am really pleased with how this card turned out.

I’ve coloured the lady in with watercolour pencils and aqua painter. I love how the black frames make the images pop. Framing cards focuses the eye on the main image. I’ve used the shimmery white to watercolour on. Is important that you use a paper than stand up to the water. I find that if you whisper white then the paper will bobble and pill. I always you shimmery white or watercolour card.

The Gang’s All Meer Card – Stampin’ Up!

I have a card to share with you today using the sale-a-bration offering stamp set “The Gang’s All Meer”. These adorable little meerkats are coloured in using the Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers.

The Gang’s All Meer Card – Stampin’ Up!

Aren’t these little guys so cute? I’m surprised to see how obsessed people are with meerkats as they are not animals we find in the UK. As some of you may know my mother was born in South Africa. My grandparents were farmers in the Orange Free State and we had meerkats on the farm. You may not know but meerkats are insectivores which is great. They hoover up all these nasty creepy crawlies but also do like eggs. My Granny kept hens for personal use and to sell the eggs. You had to be wary of the meerkats as they loved to get into the hen house and steal the eggs. The naughty little rascals!!

In this card, I’ve used the main stamp and just repeat stamped it across the card to get a whole gang of meerkats. I love colouring in and found it so therapeutic colouring in all these little guys.

Parisian Blossoms – Art Journal Page – Stampin’ Up!

I do make lots of cards, bags and boxes but I do love painting and mixed media. I, therefore, have an art journal page to share with you today. This one was inspired by the Parisian Blossoms designer series paper (DSP).

Parisian Blossoms - Art Journal Page - Stampin' Up!
Parisian Blossoms – Art Journal Page – Stampin’ Up!

I’ve watercoloured the background using Petal Pink and Pool Party reinkers. These are the colours in the DSP. I sponged through two different stencils to create interest in the background. I also did some “ghost stamping” with the Parisian Beauty stamp set. This has a lovely old script stamp that I love.

The DSP is collaged with mat gel medium that you can find in any good art store or online. This is a fabulous medium for collaging and makes the page non-porous.

I’ve finished off the design with a black journaling pen around the DSP elements and the border. The border is coloured in using a black marker.

I love to paint and used to do some watercolouring before I got into papercrafting. Do you like to art journal or do you prefer to must make cards?

Tulips in Autumn – Greetings Card Tutorial

I have this simple and clean card to share with you. It features my favourite flowers, Tulips, which I love. I have therefore named it Tulips in Autumn. This stamp is from the “Winds of Change” stamp set which I have already used.

Tulips in Autumn - Greetings Card Tutorial
Tulips in Autumn – Greetings Card Tutorial

I was at the garden centre for lunch recently and the array of Tulips bulbs is mind-blowing. They come in such a fantastic range of colours, shapes and textures. Once upon a single tulip bulb sold for than craftsman’s annual salary. I love looking at all the tulips in Autumn and dreaming of their beauty in the Spring.

This card is much cheaper to make than that. I’ve stamped the tulip in memento black in and coloured it in with the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. The cotton real red ribbon just gives added interest to the background.

measurements

  • Whisper White A6 Cardbase (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Real Red – Brights designer series family stack – 14.35cm x 7.6cm

I love the combination of red and green. I don’t feel it just a Christmas colour. They are opposite sides of the colour wheel and therefore are complimentary colours.

I love floral cards and my favourite, of course, are Tulips. What are your favourite images on cards? Let me know in the comments section. I love reading your comments.

Christmas Crowd Christmas Card

I have a Christmas card to share with you today. Yes I know it’s early but as crafters, we need to get started early to have everything ready by December. This card uses the Christmas Crowd stamp set from the Autumn / Winter catalogue that launches today.

Christmas Crowd stamp set from Stampin' Up!
Christmas Crowd stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

This image is all one stamp which makes this super quick to make. I have stamped this is in Memento Ink and then coloured everyone in with the Stampin’ Blends.

Stamps like Christmas Crowd are great for kids as you can stamp quickly a load of these and then set them to colour them in to make their own cards. A great way to keep them occupied and they are productive too!!

Elephants – Baby Card – Wildly Happy Stamp Set

I have a baby elephants card to share with you today. This card uses the Wildly Happy stamp set I won in Prize Patrol back in April at Onstage Local in Telford. I am happy as this is a cute set featuring parents and babies.

Elephant baby card using the Wildly Happy stamp set from Stampin' Up!
Elephant baby card using the Wildly Happy stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

Smokey Slate Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends are being used to colour in these elephants. They are alcohol markers and they blend beautifully. It is so easy to achieve shading and depth of interest with these markers.

These elephants speak to me as they remind me of home. I am born in the UK but my mother was born in South Africa and all my maternal family are still there. When I was younger we went to the Kruger National Park. I remember seeing the elephants crossing the road in front of our car.

measurements

  • Granny Apple Cardbase – A6 – (A6 is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Whisper White – 3 1/4″ X 51/4″
  • Granny Apple Green Designer Series Paper (DSP) 3″ x 5″

The other images in this set are a fox, rabbits and a cute panda. They are great for many styles of cards but in particular babies.

I do enjoy colouring in whether it be with Stampin’ Blends, watercolours or even acrylic paints. It is so soothing and therapeutic.

There is a video tutorial and supply list below.

Everything Amazing Birthday Card

I have this easy and simple birthday card to share with you today using the Everything Amazing stamp set. This is a great set as you can customise your sentiment around the main word Amazing.

The Everything Amazing stamp set from Stampin' Up! is used for this simple birthday card
The Everything Amazing stamp set from Stampin’ Up! is used for this simple birthday card

I love everything about this card. It is simple and elegant. I love Bermuda Bay which is the colour in the background. The stamp stamps a shaded grey rather than jet black but I prefer the jet black as it gives better contrast and makes the sentiment pop. I coloured it in with the black stampin’ write marker.

measurements

  • A6 card base is thick whisper white. (A6 is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Bermuda Bay Designer Series Paper (DSP) Brights family stack – 14.35cm x 10cm

I love big bold sentiments such as this one as I feel they are everything a simple card needs to make them stand out.

What type of cards do you like? Do you prefer everything simple and streamlined or do you prefer a more detailed style with embellishments? Let me know below!!

I am really glad that is has cooled down at last. Normally, I cope with the heat fine but when it gets over 30 degrees with the high humidity we experience in the UK that is pushing it. My maternal family is from South Africa. I find the dry heat in Pretoria much easier to cope with and can be in long sleeves still at 25 degrees. Consequently, I haven’t done much crafting this week and my videos may be a few days delayed.

More simple cards

I have a video as usual which is below with the supply list.
