Sometimes the simplest cards make the biggest impact, and these elegant thank you cards are the perfect example. By combining bold sentiment stamping with a colourful patterned background and a beautifully detailed butterfly, you can create a stylish handmade card in just a few easy steps.

The Thanking You stamp set provides the oversized sentiment, while the delicate butterfly from All Aflutter adds the perfect finishing touch. Paired with the gorgeous Painted Patterns Designer Series Paper, these cards are ideal for sending heartfelt thanks to friends, family or customers.

A Clean and Contemporary Design

One of the things I love most about these cards is how clean and uncluttered they look. The large “Thank You” sentiment becomes the focal point, allowing the beautiful colours to shine without overwhelming the design.

Using Thick Basic White cardstock for the card base gives the card a lovely sturdy feel, while the patterned border frames the sentiment beautifully.

I’ve created two colour variations:

  • Peaceful Pine for a rich, elegant look.
  • Hydrangea Hue for a fresh, cheerful design.

Both versions use the same layout, proving how simply changing the colour palette can give a project a completely different feel.

Large sentiment stamps are one of my favourite ways to create quick cards.

The oversized greeting from the Thanking You stamp set fills the card front effortlessly, meaning you don’t need lots of layers or embellishments to achieve a polished finish.

I stamped the sentiments in:

  • Hydrangea Hue

These coordinating ink colours tie everything together perfectly.

A Pop of Colour with the Butterfly

Every card needs a little finishing touch, and the butterfly from the All Aflutter stamp set does exactly that.

Stamped in Timid Tiger with Hybrid Black ink for the detail, the butterfly adds a warm splash of colour that contrasts beautifully against both the green and blue colour schemes.

It’s a small embellishment that makes a big impact and brings the whole design to life.

  • Thick Basic White Cardstock – A6 Card Base – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half.

If you’re looking for a quick and elegant thank you card, this project is a perfect choice. The beautiful Greenery Lane Washi Tape does most of the hard work, allowing you to create a stylish card in very little time. By pairing the soft botanical design with rich cardstock colours and a touch of gold foil, you can create a card that feels both simple and luxurious.

Today’s cards feature Lost Lagoon and Garden Green card bases, creating two different looks while using exactly the same design.

Why You’ll Love This Card

One of the things I enjoy most about using washi tape is how quickly you can build a beautiful background. There’s no complicated colouring or masking required—simply apply the tape and you’ve instantly created a gorgeous feature panel.

Adding narrow strips of Gold Foil Card gives the design an elegant finish and helps frame the botanical pattern beautifully. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference.

By keeping the sentiment clean and uncluttered, the beautiful Greenery Lane Washi Tape remains the main feature of the card.

Change the Colours to Suit Any Occasion

Although I’ve used Lost Lagoon and Garden Green, this layout is incredibly versatile.

You could easily recreate this design using:

  • Night of Navy for a more dramatic look.
  • Mossy Meadow for rich natural tones.
  • Basic Beige for a soft neutral design.
  • Cherry Cobbler with gold accents for Christmas or festive cards.

Simply swap the sentiment and you’ll have a card suitable for birthdays, thinking of you, congratulations or even sympathy cards.

Perfect for Batch Making

This is one of those designs that’s ideal when you need to make several cards at once. Because the washi tape creates such a striking background, very little additional embellishment is needed.

It’s a wonderful project for:

Once you’ve prepared several background panels, the cards come together very quickly.

If you’re looking for a simple cardmaking technique that creates a striking design with very little effort, then you’re going to love today’s project! The Slice and Shuffle Technique is a fantastic way to make the most of your Designer Series Paper while creating modern, eye-catching layouts.

For today’s cards, I’ve used the beautiful Everyday Essentials Designer Series Paper paired with a Lost Lagoon card base. To finish the designs, I’ve added elements from the Sincerely Noted and Meant For You Mix & Match Ephemera Packs, making these cards quick, stylish and perfect for a variety of occasions.

What is the Slice and Shuffle Technique?

The Slice and Shuffle Technique is exactly as it sounds. You cut your patterned paper into sections, rearrange the pieces, and then mount them back onto your card with small gaps between each section.

It’s an incredibly versatile technique because you can:

  • Use one sheet of Designer Series Paper or mix different patterns together.
  • Change the angle of the cuts for a completely different look.
  • Create birthday, thank you, sympathy or celebration cards simply by changing the embellishments and sentiment.

It’s one of those techniques that looks far more complicated than it actually is.

Why I Love This Layout

One of my favourite things about this design is how it showcases multiple patterns without the card feeling too busy.

The soft green floral pattern and coordinating striped paper from the Everyday Essentials DSP work beautifully together, while the soft pink panel adds balance and warmth. The crisp white borders between each section help define the individual pieces and make the whole design really stand out.

Using Lost Lagoon as the card base ties everything together perfectly and gives the card a fresh, elegant finish.

Mix & Match Makes Cardmaking So Easy

The Sincerely Noted and Meant For You Mix & Match Ephemera Packs are perfect for this style of card.

Rather than stamping and die cutting, you can simply choose the images and sentiments that suit your occasion. It’s a brilliant way to create beautiful handmade cards in less time, making these products ideal whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crafter.

For these cards I’ve created two completely different occasions using exactly the same layout:

  • A cheerful birthday card featuring colourful balloons and a simple “Hooray!” sentiment.
  • A lovely thank you card decorated with a beautiful floral bouquet and coordinating sentiment.

This shows just how versatile one card sketch can be.

Make It Your Own

The beauty of the Slice and Shuffle Technique is that every card will be unique.

Why not try experimenting with:

  • Different Designer Series Papers.
  • Seasonal colour combinations.
  • Metallic cardstock between the sections.
  • Raised panels using Stampin’ Dimensionals for added depth.
  • Different ephemera pieces or stamped focal images.

You could even make several cards at once by cutting multiple pieces of Designer Series Paper together and mixing the sections between cards.

If you’re looking for a card that has the wow factor but is still surprisingly straightforward to make, then this Double Gatefold, Double Z-Fold Card is one you’ll definitely want to add to your collection. With multiple folds, beautiful patterned paper and a striking centre panel, this design is perfect for showcasing your favourite Designer Series Papers while creating a card that’s sure to impress.

For today’s project, I’ve created two versions using different colour combinations, proving just how versatile this fun fold can be.

A Beautiful Showcase for Designer Series Paper

One of the things I love most about this card is that it really lets the Everyday Essentials Designer Series Paper take centre stage. The multiple panels provide the perfect opportunity to display several sections of your favourite patterns without overwhelming the design.

The first card features a sophisticated Lost Lagoon card base paired with the soft floral patterns from the Everyday Essentials DSP. The cool tones create an elegant, calming design that’s perfect for thank-you cards, birthdays, or simply sending a thoughtful note.

For the second version, I switched to a Bubble Bath card base. This gives the card a much softer, feminine feel, with the pink tones beautifully complementing the colourful floral paper. It’s amazing how simply changing the cardstock colour completely transforms the finished project.

The Perfect Fun Fold

Although this card looks intricate, it’s created using a series of simple score lines and folds that come together beautifully. The double gatefold opens to reveal the centre panel, while the double Z-fold adds movement and dimension, making the card interactive and fun for the recipient to open.

Fun fold cards are always a wonderful way to use your crafting skills to create something a little different, and this design is one that looks far more complicated than it actually is.

A Simple Yet Elegant Sentiment

Rather than adding lots of embellishments, I kept the focal point clean and elegant by using the Words & Wishes Dies to create the layered “Thank You” sentiment.

The die-cut greeting stands proudly in the centre of the card, allowing the surrounding Designer Series Paper to frame it beautifully. Sometimes a simple sentiment is all you need when the folds and patterned paper are doing most of the work.

Of course, this design could easily be adapted for birthdays, anniversaries, congratulations or any other occasion simply by changing the sentiment.

Measurements

  • Lost Lagoon / Bubble Bath Cardstock:
    • 28.5cm X 14.85cm – scored at 4.75cm, 9.5cm from either side on the longer side.
    • 19cm X 3cm scored at 4.75cm and 9.5cm.
  • Basic White Cardstock – 14.35cm X 9cm.
  • Everyday Essentials designer series paper (DSP):
    • 14.35cm X 4.25cm X 4 pieces.
    • 4.25cm X 2.5cm X 4 pieces
    • 9cm X 2.5cm X 2 pieces.

Create Cheerful Handmade Thank You Cards with Beautiful Ordinary DSP

There’s something special about sending a handmade thank you card, and these bright and cheerful designs are perfect for showing your appreciation in style. Featuring the gorgeous Beautiful Ordinary Designer Series Paper, layered blooms from the Scalloped Blooms Dies, and sentiments from the Greetings For All Ephemera Pack, these cards are full of colour, texture, and charm.

The combination of bold patterns, layered flowers, and simple sentiments creates eye-catching cards that look impressive but are surprisingly easy to make.

A Colourful Combination of Pattern and Layers

One of my favourite things about these cards is how the patterned paper does much of the hard work. The Beautiful Ordinary DSP features fresh, vibrant designs that instantly brighten any project.

For both cards, I used pieces of DSP to create decorative tags that become the focal point of the design. This is a great way to make the most of your patterned papers while adding an extra layer of interest without needing lots of additional supplies.

The layered flowers were created using the Scalloped Blooms Dies, giving each card a lovely dimensional element. A few sparkly embellishments add the perfect finishing touch.

Pretty Peacock and Petal Pink

The first card features a rich Pretty Peacock card base paired with layered blooms in Pool Party and Petal Pink.

The soft floral colours contrast beautifully against the deeper card base, creating a fresh and elegant look. Combined with the striped Beautiful Ordinary DSP, the result is a card that feels both modern and cheerful.

The simple “Thanks” sentiment from the Greetings For All Ephemera Pack keeps the design clean and allows the colours and layers to take centre stage.

Melon Mambo and Petal Pink

For the second card, I chose a vibrant Melon Mambo card base and layered the flowers using Melon Mambo and Petal Pink cardstock.

This version has a completely different feel despite using the same layout. The bright pink tones bring lots of energy to the design, while the Petal Pink softens the overall look and adds balance.

The honeycomb-inspired pattern from the Beautiful Ordinary DSP works perfectly with the bold floral layers, creating a fun and uplifting thank you card that would brighten anyone’s day.

If you love creating elegant cards without lots of fuss, this project is a perfect example of how simplicity can still feel really special. Today I’m sharing two beautiful cards made using the Words & Wishes dies, paired with the gorgeous Bloom Boutique Designer Series Paper.

This DSP is such a dream to work with — delicate florals combined with subtle gold foiling make it feel instantly luxurious. I’ve echoed that gold detail in the die-cut sentiments to tie everything together beautifully.

A Closer Look at the Design

Both cards follow the same layout, making this a great design to replicate when you want to create multiple cards quickly.

The background features the Lazy Daisy embossing folder, which adds soft texture and interest without overpowering the focal elements. It’s one of those subtle details that really elevates a simple card.

A vertical strip of Bloom Boutique DSP adds contrast and draws the eye, while also showcasing that lovely gold foiling.

Card One – Thank You

The first card uses a Golden Glow card base, giving it a warm and uplifting feel.

The sentiment is cut in Hydrangea Hue, layered with gold to complement the DSP. The combination of soft blue and warm gold works so beautifully together, creating a balanced and eye-catching design.

Card Two – Best Wishes

For the second card, I’ve switched things up slightly with a Peaceful Pine card base.

This deeper tone gives the card a more classic and rich feel. The gold sentiment really pops against the darker colour, making it perfect for more formal or heartfelt occasions.

Why This Design Works

This style of card is a go-to for so many reasons:

  • It’s quick and easy to recreate
  • You can change colours and sentiments for any occasion
  • It uses small pieces of DSP — perfect for using up your stash
  • The embossing adds texture without extra layers

It’s a great reminder that you don’t need lots of layers or complicated techniques to create something truly beautiful.

A Stylish Way to Use Designer Series Paper

Today I’m sharing another fun card design that’s perfect for showing off your favourite Designer Series Paper. This layout creates a striking diagonal panel effect, combining patterned paper, embossed cardstock and a touch of gold foil for an elegant finish.

The cards feature the beautiful Garden Poetry Designer Series Paper, paired with sentiments from the With You in Mind stamp set. By combining texture, colour and layered embellishments, you can create a card that looks detailed and impressive but is actually very simple to assemble.

Creating the Diagonal Panel Design

The focal point of these cards is the diagonal panel layout. The card front is divided into two sections using a clean angled cut. One section showcases the patterned paper while the other features embossed cardstock.

For added luxury, I added a thin strip of gold foil along the diagonal join. This small detail really elevates the design and helps separate the two panels beautifully.

The embossed section uses the Stone & Vine embossing folder, which adds a lovely leafy texture that complements the botanical theme of the Designer Series Paper.

Card Colour Variations

To show how versatile this layout can be, I created two different versions using bold and rich colours.

Card One – Poppy Parade

The first card uses Poppy Parade as the main background colour. The vibrant red pairs beautifully with the soft floral pattern from the Garden Poetry paper. The sentiment Best Wishes is stamped to coordinate with the card and layered onto gold foil cardstock to tie in with the diagonal trim.

Card Two – Shaded Spruce

The second card uses Shaded Spruce for a deeper, elegant look. The rich green works wonderfully with the botanical elements of the patterned paper. The Thank You sentiment is stamped in coordinating ink and layered in the same way for a consistent design.

Adding Dimension with Die Cuts

To soften the geometric layout, I added delicate foliage die cuts from the Pretty Florals die set. These layered leaves sit behind the sentiment panel and add dimension and interest without overpowering the design.

Using both white and gold foil die cuts gives the cards a beautiful layered look while keeping the botanical theme flowing across the entire design.

Finishing Touches

No card feels complete without a few embellishments! I finished both cards with Moody Palette dots, which add a subtle shine and draw the eye around the design.

These small details help bring the whole card together and give it a polished, professional finish.

How to Add Texture to a Card with Embellishments – Tutorial – Painterly Pears – Simply Said – Crafting With Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo

Adding texture is one of my favourite ways to take a handmade card from “nice” to wow, and today’s card is a perfect example of how a few simple embellishments can completely change the look and feel of a design.

For this project, I’ve used the beautiful Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper, which already has a soft, artistic feel. By layering texture on top of that, the finished card feels much more tactile and luxurious—without being bulky or complicated to make.

Choosing the Right Card Base

The card base for this project is Thick Basic White, which is ideal when you’re adding extra layers and embellishments. It gives the card a sturdy foundation and ensures it holds its shape beautifully, even with added texture.

Using a strong card base also helps the decorative elements stand out, especially when paired with patterned paper like Painterly Pears.

Creating a Textured Focal Panel

The focal panel is where the texture really comes to life. I edged the panel using Fluffy Trim, which instantly adds softness and dimension. This type of trim is fantastic for breaking up patterned paper and drawing the eye towards the centre of the card.

Running the trim along the top and bottom of the focal panel frames the design and adds a cosy, almost fabric-like feel—perfect for cards that you want to feel special when held.

Adding “Bump” Texture with Embellishments

To add that final layer of interest, I used Pearls of Beauty pearls. These small embellishments are brilliant for creating what I like to call bump texture—just enough raised detail to catch the light without overpowering the design.

Placed carefully around the focal panel, the pearls balance the softness of the Fluffy Trim and add a subtle touch of elegance. This combination of soft and shiny textures works especially well with the painterly style of the DSP.

Why Texture Matters in Cardmaking

This card layout is also very versatile. You can easily swap the sentiment to suit different occasions, or change the DSP while keeping the same textured elements for a completely new look.

I’m sharing two clean and stylish cards today that showcase the Big Little Things stamp set, and I have to say, this set is full of personality! These fun animal images are perfect for a wide range of occasions and work beautifully with patterned paper and bold colour accents.

For these cards, I’ve kept the layout simple but impactful, letting the stamped images take centre stage while adding texture and interest with layers and dies.

Card Design Details

Both cards start with a Basic Black card base, which gives a strong, modern frame and really helps the lighter elements stand out. I’ve used Boho Vibes DSP as the main background layer, choosing two different patterns to show how versatile this paper pack is.

The focal images are stamped using the Big Little Things stamp set and cut out with the Perennial Postage dies. I love the postage-style edge these dies create – they instantly add detail without needing any extra embellishments.

To give the cards a pop of colour, I’ve layered the focal panels onto Melon Mambo cardstock. This bright accent lifts the monochrome palette and adds a fun, playful feel that suits the animal images perfectly.

Finishing Touches

The sentiments are taken from the Greetings to You stamp set, which is a go-to for me when I want something clean and easy to read. They pair beautifully with the images without overpowering the design.

Overall, these cards are great examples of how you can mix bold cardstock, patterned paper, and simple stamping to create eye-catching designs that work for lots of occasions – from thank you cards to congratulations and beyond.

Sometimes a simple design with strong colours can create the biggest impact, and today’s bold thank you cards are a perfect example of that. These cards are quick to make, full of contrast, and ideal to keep on hand for any occasion where a heartfelt thank you is needed.

For this project, I’ve focused on combining heat embossing with patterned paper, allowing the sentiment to really shine while the background adds interest and texture.

White Heat Embossing for Maximum Impact

The sentiment on both cards is stamped using the Thanking You stamp set and white heat embossed directly onto patterned paper. Heat embossing instantly elevates a card design, giving the sentiment a crisp, professional finish and a lovely raised texture.

White embossing works particularly well here as it stands out beautifully against the darker patterned papers, creating that bold, eye-catching look without needing lots of extra layers or embellishments.

Beautiful Bokeh Patterned Paper

Both cards feature Beautiful Bokeh DSP, which adds a soft, dreamy background while still allowing the sentiment to take centre stage. The subtle circular pattern gives the illusion of depth and movement, making these cards feel special without being overly busy.

Using patterned paper as a focal panel is a great way to create interest quickly, especially when paired with a strong sentiment stamp.

Colour Combinations Used

For the first card, I paired:

  • A Bubble Bath card base
  • Berry Burst Beautiful Bokeh patterned paper

This combination feels bright and cheerful, perfect for sending a happy and uplifting thank you.

For the second card, I used:

  • A Calypso Coral card base
  • Calypso Coral Beautiful Bokeh patterned paper

This version has a warmer, more vibrant feel while still keeping the design clean and simple.

Both colourways show how easy it is to adapt the same layout to different colour schemes.
