I have this gorgeous card to share with you today using very natural and neutral colours. The stamp set is Enjoy the Moment. This was a free set I got in my convention bag last November. Onstage was a virtual event from the comfort of our own homes but still loads of fun. This card is based on one demonstrated to us.

I have stamped using Crumb Cake ink and then added shadows and extra detail using the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Alcohol markers over the top. I’ve also the blue surround to give depth to the image.

I love shaker cards but sometimes struggle with making them. This one turned out really well I think. The sequins around the card pic up on the sequins in the shaker card and give it a lovely cohesive effect. I embossed the Balmy Blue layer with the Woodlands embossing folder which matches the woodland feel of the stamped image.

When I was a child, I love Snow Globes. They weren’t as widely available as they are now and were so special. I love just loved watching all the glittery snow falling down on the scene. I still have a few that I have collected over the years that I put out for Christmas. This year I want to try and make one for myself. Watch this space!!

I really enjoyed creating this scene using my dies. I combined dies from two different sets, Freezin’ Fun and Special Day. We forget sometimes that dies don’t just have to be used with the matching stamp set but can be used with others to create something different.

I sponged all my die cuts with the matching ink to give them extra definition, shadows and allow them to really pop on the scene. My two favourite dies are the stitched rolling hill and the grass. They are just great.

Blue Poppies – Himalayan Blue Poppy

I have this gorgeous card to share with you today using blue poppies. This card is my interpretation of the Himalayan blue poppy. This is a pretty blue flower with a little yellow centre. When I saw it I knew I wanted to try and make a card around this idea.

Blue Poppies - Himalayan Blue Poppy
Blue Poppies – Himalayan Blue Poppy

I am really pleased with how this turned out and I hope you like it to. The card is mainly die cutting. The l ight blue is Balmy Blue and the Pacific Point gives a contrast to the flower. The leaves are Pear Pizzazz (Light Green) and Old Olive (Dark Green)

The die set does come with a die to cut out flower centres but I thought these gold faceted gems work perfectly and also give some bling to the card. These gems are unfortunately retiring but still available as I write this.

I did some research on the Himalayan blue poppy. It was formally named in 1912 by Lt. Col. Frederick Marshman Bailey. It is hardy in much of the UK and is perennial so comes back every year. How great is that? I definitely want to try and grow some in the garden. They would look gorgeous in a cottage garden.

measurements

  • A6 Pacific Point Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

other floral projects

I hope you enjoyed this card. I had fun making it. The die is Poppy Moments and I intend to give it a good work out. I think I will try making some yellow and orange poppies next either to use on a card or as an embellishment on a bag or box. I think this die set would be fabulous to make scrapbooking embellishments especially if you are doing a page about the 75th anniversary of VE day.

Under my Umbrella – Stampin’ Blends Markers

I have this cute, bright and sunny card to share with you today. I knew I wanted to get “Under My Umbrella” the minute I saw it in the catalogue. The flowers growing in the wellies are just so dinky.

Under my Umbrella - Stampin' Up!
Under my Umbrella – Stampin’ Up!

I debated what colours to use in this card and eventually went for so saffron, balmy blue, highland heather and old olive. I think they make the card look like a summer’s day.

Everything is coloured in using the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I love the seamless colouring and easy shading of the Stampin’ Blends. What is your favourite colouring medium? I do love watercolouring but the Blends are great for quick and easy colouring too.

measurements

  • So Saffron A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half.
  • So Saffron Subtles Designer Series Paper – 14.35cm x 10cm

I can’t wait for spring and all the flowers to start coming out. The trees always look so bare without their leaves. I wanted to make a card to remind me of the sunny days that will hopefully come soon.

Snowglobe Shaker Card – Still Scenes – Stampin’ Up!

I have another attempt at a snowglobe shaker card to share with you today. I love the idea of a shaker card but don’t enjoy making them. The sequins get everywhere and more seem to stick to me than get in the shaker dome!!!

Snowglobe Shaker Card - Still Scenes - Stampin' Up!
Snowglobe Shaker Card – Still Scenes – Stampin’ Up!

I’ve used the Still Scenes stamp set to stamp the wintery cottage scene. I have coloured it in with our watercolour pencils. I love colouring in and watercolouring is a very forgiving medium. The two polar bears are so cute and love the image of the mother kissing her little baby bear.

measurements

  • Blueberry Bushel A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in a half and then folded in half
  • Balmy Blue – 14.35cm x 10cm
  • Blueberry Bushel In Colour Designer Series Paper (DSP) 13.85cm x 9.5cm
  • Balmy Blue – 1.5cm x 9.5cm

I felt the background was a bit bland and therefore have lifted using the same snowflake sequins that are in the shaker dome. I adhered them with a tiny dot of Tombow. The “Take Your Pick Tool” makes placement super easy without getting your fingers stuck in the glue.

Mr Fox – Nature’s Beauty – Stampin’ Up!

I have this gorgeous wintery scene card featuring Mr Fox to share with you today. The stamp set is Nature’s Beauty and can be easily missed as it’s on the last page of the Autumn / Winter catalogue. This stamp set is part of Stampin’ Up!’s Making a Difference project. £2.50 from the sale of each set goes towards mental health organisations.

Mr Fox - Nature's Beauty - Stampin' Up!
Mr Fox – Nature’s Beauty – Stampin’ Up!

I love this wintery scene. It does seem to sum up our dream of winter in the UK. In reality, many of us don’t’ get much snow and when we do it turn to mush very quickly. We can dream though!!!

This card is very simple to make. All the elements bar Mr Fox are stamped in early espresso. I have sponged the sky with Balmy Blue which is the same blue as the cardbase. Mr Fox is a red fox and therefore stamped in Cajun Craze.

measurements

  • Balmy Blue A6 Cardbase – (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

All the elements are stamped in one layer. Mr Fox is fussy cut but he is very easy to cut out. I love this type of Christmas card with a winter scene. What are your favourite types of Christmas Card? Let me know in the comments section.

Watercolouring – Peaceful Place Stamp set

I love watercolouring. I was painting before I ever started papercrafting and cardmaking. The flow of colours and the way they mix continue to fascinate me. Colouring in has also always been a very soothing and therapeutic way to spend a couple of hours.

Watercolouring using the Peaceful Place stamp set from Stampin' Up!
Watercolouring using the Peaceful Place stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

This stamp set has been in my stash for over a year and I haven’t used it until now. I am glad I am using it now as I love it. The image is one whole stamp and that makes scene building a breeze. I’ve stamped the image in Stazon ink and then used both sets of watercolour pencils to “paint” the colour.

Measurements

  • Night of Navy A6 cardbase (A6 is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half.)

I have not given measurements for the Shimmery White, Pacific Point or Balmy Blue as I cut these as I go depending on how I stamp, paint and cut the stamped image.

This scene is perfection to me. I could quite happily spend a few hours on the banks of that stream with a book and not a care in the world. The natural world is a love of mine and I enjoy spending time in it whenever I can.

There are a video and supply list below as always.

Silhouette Scenes – Simple Card Tutorial

I love this simple and easy silhouette card design. The silhouettes give maximum impact with little work. The Silhouette Scenes set stamps beautifully. They are solid images but they stamp with no fading.

Silhouette Scenes stamp set from Stampin' Up!
Silhouette Scenes stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

I love silhouettes against either a plain background or inked ones. This stamps set has a nice variety of images and sayings including a girl on a swing. There is also a die set that goes with this set and can be bought for a 10% saving.

Measurements

  • A6 Balmy Blue Card base – (A6 is an A4 sheet cut in half, folded in half)
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

I think this is going to be one of my favourite stamp sets in this catalogue. It is part of a product suite that includes matching designer series paper (DSP) and shimmer embossing powder.

I am very excited about this suite as I love inked backgrounds with the bold black of a silhouette in front of it. Another card that uses this technique is this Thank You card.

Do you like silhouettes? Back in the day, you could go to a fair and there a person who could cut your silhouette out of paper while you waited. I am fascinated by that skill. I believe silhouettes rose in popularity during the 18th and 19th centuries. There were many skilled artists who just focused on this one form. I am very glad that I can stamp mine and don’t have to cut it out freehand.

As usual, there is video and supply list below.

Until next time, Enjoy Being Creative!!
