Timeless Tulips – Spotlighting – Stampin’ Up!

As followers of my blog will know, my favourite flowers are Tulips. I simply adore them. When I saw this the Timeless Tulips stamp set and matching punch I knew I had to have them.

I’ve kept the colours very simple with just red and white. I love the contrast between real red and whisper white. I spotlighted the actual tulip flower in red with a black stem to highlight this.

Tulips do signify the start of Spring and warm weather to me. They are beautiful blooms even when they are dying and the petals fall open like orchids.

I felt the white background was a little bland and so I ran it the through the Basket Weave embossing folder to give it some subtle texture. I’ve not been using my embossing folder for ages so I decided I must start using them more as well.

measurements

  • Real Red A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

One Sheet Bag – A Little Lace

I have a simple one-sheet bag that uses the Little Lace stamp set from Stampin’ Up!. This is a great project for kids as the bag involves only scoring and no cutting. Therefore no scissors for little fingers to get caught in.

I first made a version of this bag when I did a make and take with a group of Girl Guiders in Hounslow, London. It was a great success and everyone went away feeling proud of their creations.

This is also a cheap bag to make as it only uses one sheet of whisper white cardstock. I stamped the bag using the A Little Lace stamp set. It is a red rubber stamp set and it stamps crisply giving a clean and elegant image. I actually chose Lovely Lipstick as the colour as I have the matching ribbon in that colour.

Measurements

  • Whisper White A4 sheet,
    • Score on the short side at 2 inches from each side
    • Score on the long side at 4 7/8 inches from each side

A bone folder is essential for this project. An investment in a good bone folder is worth its weight in gold. It will help you get crisp scorelines that fold easily and look professional. I love the Stampin’ Up! as it has a good weight to it.

Silhouette Scenes – Simple Card Tutorial

I love this simple and easy silhouette card design. The silhouettes give maximum impact with little work. The Silhouette Scenes set stamps beautifully. They are solid images but they stamp with no fading.

I love silhouettes against either a plain background or inked ones. This stamps set has a nice variety of images and sayings including a girl on a swing. There is also a die set that goes with this set and can be bought for a 10% saving.

Measurements

  • A6 Balmy Blue Card base – (A6 is an A4 sheet cut in half, folded in half)
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

I think this is going to be one of my favourite stamp sets in this catalogue. It is part of a product suite that includes matching designer series paper (DSP) and shimmer embossing powder.

I am very excited about this suite as I love inked backgrounds with the bold black of a silhouette in front of it. Another card that uses this technique is this Thank You card.

Do you like silhouettes? Back in the day, you could go to a fair and there a person who could cut your silhouette out of paper while you waited. I am fascinated by that skill. I believe silhouettes rose in popularity during the 18th and 19th centuries. There were many skilled artists who just focused on this one form. I am very glad that I can stamp mine and don’t have to cut it out freehand.

As usual, there is video and supply list below.
