If you love creating pretty 3D papercrafting projects, you’re going to love this Sunflower Fields gift bag! This cute little bag is made in the style of a rectangular milk carton and is perfect for holding a small gift, some chocolates, treats or even a little handmade surprise.

I’ve used the beautiful Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper to decorate the project, and I think the bright sunflower pattern makes this gift bag especially cheerful. It would be lovely for a birthday, thank-you gift or simply as a little something to brighten someone’s day.

A Cute Rectangular Milk Carton Gift Bag

I really enjoy making 3D projects like this because they are such a fun alternative to a traditional card. This design has the look of a small rectangular milk carton, but with a much prettier purpose!

The box is sturdy enough to hold a small gift and the shape gives you plenty of opportunities to show off your favourite Designer Series Paper.

For this project, I chose Sunflower Fields DSP. The vibrant floral pattern does most of the decorating for me, so I didn’t need to add lots of extra embellishments.

Adding the Pretty Ribbon Closure

One of my favourite details on this project is the pretty white ribbon closure.

The ribbon keeps the top of the milk carton-style gift bag neatly closed while also adding a lovely soft contrast to the bright sunflower paper. It’s a simple detail, but I think it really finishes the project beautifully.

You could easily change the ribbon to suit the occasion or the Designer Series Paper you’re using. A coloured ribbon would give a completely different look, while white keeps this version fresh and elegant.

Perfect for Small Gifts and Treats

This handmade gift bag would be perfect for so many occasions. You could fill it with chocolates, sweets, jewellery, a small candle, crafting goodies or another little gift.

I also think these would make lovely party favours or table gifts. Because they are made from paper, you can easily create a few at once when you have several gifts to prepare.

And, of course, you don’t have to use Sunflower Fields! Once you have the basic design, you can choose different Designer Series Papers to create gift bags for birthdays, Christmas, weddings or any other occasion.

Make Your Own Milk Carton Gift Bag

I hope this project has inspired you to have a go at making your own 3D gift bag. It’s a fun way to use your favourite Designer Series Paper and create something that is both pretty and practical.

The combination of the cheerful Sunflower Fields DSP, the simple design and the white ribbon makes this a project I’ll definitely be making again. Why not choose your favourite patterned paper and create your own version?
