Male Thank You Card – Come Sail Away

I have a male thank you card to share with you today. This is a very simple card that uses the Come Sail Away designer series paper (DSP). I spent ages trying to think of a card to use this suite of products. In the end, I decided, that simple and easy was the best route to go. I think it turned out quite well.

Male Thank You Card - Come Sail Away
Male Thank You Card – Come Sail Away

The background colour in this paper is Very Vanilla as opposed to Whisper White. This gives the paper a vintage, shabby chic feel which is beautiful. I love DSP that has newsprint so this is a winner. I also think this paper would be great for a mini-album or scrapbook page. It would be perfect to document a cruise or for any with a nautical background.

We all struggle with cards for men. A card like this one really hits the spot as it’s simple and muted. I also think navy and brown are good safe colours as they are neutral.

measurements

  • Night of Navy A6 Cardbase – (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Come Sail Away DSP – 14.35cm x 10cm

Fabled Friends - Gift Bag - Perfect for Children
Fabled Friends – Gift Bag – Perfect for Children

I love the different blues in this bag. The night of navy really makes the whole thing pop. This bunny rabbit is so cute. He reminds me of cuddly toys and happy children. I am a sucker for cute and cuddly. I still have many of my cuddly toys from childhood including one bear that has travelled all over the world with me.

This bunny is coloured in using the Stampin’ Blends. The blends are fast becoming one of my favourite colouring mediums. You just need to remember to stamp your image in Memento ink as opposed to Stazon.

Wrapped in Plaid Punched Trees Card

I have another Christmas card to share with you today. This one is super easy and quick to make, using the Wrapped in Plaid DSP. I am glad that Stampin’ Up! is still investing in new punches even though the trend for dies has taken off. Punches make crafting quick and allow crafting away from home.

Wrapped in Plaid Punched Trees Card
Wrapped in Plaid Punched Trees Card

I love this new tree punch. It has a matching stamp set and they are sold as a bundle for a saving of 10%. The paper I’ve used is the Wrapped in Plaid designer series paper (DSP). This DSP is one of the 6″ X 6″ pads. It has foiled elements on one side and simple patterns on the other. It is a great stack of paper to make cards well as mini albums.

As the Wrapped in Plaid DSP has gold foil elements I decided to heat emboss the sentiment in gold to match. My favourite element, however, is the holiday rhinestones. They twinkle across the card like fairy lights. I am definitely going to buy another pack of them.

Measurements

  • Cherry Cobbler A6 Cardbase (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

Dancing in the Rain – Art Journal Page

I have a new art journal page to share with you today. This is a companion piece to my previous page which I will link below. This page is a couple dancing in the rain in the evening. My previous one was a girl swinging in the sunset.

Dancing in the Rain art journal page
Dancing in the Rain art journal page

I used our fluid 100 watercolour paper again which takes colour beautifully. Watercolour painting is very forgiving and I find soothing to the soul. I’ve used reinkers here to paint with. The colours are Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Night of Navy. They blend to create this gorgeous purple colour.

I’ve been interested in mixed media for a number of years now. Mixed media is really the application of a mixture of mediums and techniques to create an art piece. I’ve used stamping, watercolouring and stencilling here.

I love to use watercolour but also enjoy painting with acrylic paints. Unfortunately Stampin’ Up! don’t sell acrylic paints but you can mix our reinkers with gesso to create some of your own.

The stamp set I used is one fell in love with the minute I saw it, Silhouette Scenes. It comes with a matching die set as a bundle for a saving of 10% which is always good.

Varied Vases Card Tutorial – Stampin’ Up!

I have a bright and vibrant card to share with you today. The stamp set is Varied Vases. This was designed by Mary Fish who is one of Stampin’ Up!’s Million Dollar sales achievers. WOW!!! As a thank you from Stampin’ Up! she was allowed to help design a stamp set and this is it.

Varied Vases stamp set

This stamp set is a two-step stamp set. This means you can colour in the outline images with markers or using ink and the stamp provided.

I love having vases of flowers in the house, especially Tulips as they are my favourite flower. I have used five vases as I think design-wise, things look better in groups of odd numbers. The vases are two-step stamped whereas I coloured in the flowers with markers.

measurements

  • Shaded Spruce A6 card base – (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

I love floral cards and Stampin’ Up! have a plethora of floral sets to chose from. Varied Vases has a matching vase punch. The punch also matches another set called Vibrant Vases. This makes for a very versatile stamp and punch set.

Other projects using floral stamp sets

There is a video tutorial and supply list below. I am glad to use this set as I’ve had it in my stash for a year and not used it.

I love stamping and playing with colours. It’s my therapy. What is yours?

Shakey, Shakey – Feels Like Frost Shaker Card

I have a shaker card to share with you today or as I call them a shakey, shakey card. Shaker Cards are fun and interactive and I love to make them. These are super easy to make with the snow globe domes from Stampin’ Up!

Shakey, Shakey, Shaker card with the Feels like Frost Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!
Shakey, Shakey, Shaker card with the Feels like Frost Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!

I have used the Feels Like Frost designer series paper (DSP) here. It is a gorgeous paper collection. It has lovely wintery images on the one side with shimmery metallic silver foiling on the other side.

Instead of stamping behind the shaker dome I have used the cutout section of the DSP to make one seamless image. I haven’t used too many sequins so that this image is still visible.

measurements

  • Night of Navy A6 cardbase – (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Feels Like Frost DSP – 14.35cm x 10cm

I love shakey, shakey cards. These domes allow you to make a shaker card or create a proper snow globe. I plan to make more of these as Christmas approaches.

Free as a Bird Card Tutorial – Stampin’ Blends

I have a card to share with you today using the Free as a Bird stamp set from Stampin’ Up! This set is part of the Bird Ballard Suite of products. I have to say, I’m not normally a fan of stamps with bird images but this set has won me over.

Free as a Bird Card Tutorial - Supplies from Stampin' Up!
Free as a Bird stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

This stamp is just one stamp so the whole scene is created for you. I’ve coloured in these little birds using the Stampin’ Blends. Stampin’ Blends are alcohol markers that come in a light and dark of each colour. This makes blending very easy. The image is then cut out using the Stitched Nested Label dies. These can be bought as a bundle with the stamp set for a 10% saving.

Measurements

  • Thick Whisper White A6 cardbase – (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper (DSP) – 14.35cm x 10cm

I love the Bird Ballad DSP. It is beautiful and you can fussy cut all the birds which extends the life of the paper. I am so pleased that I am using it rather than just stroking it and putting it away again.

Scraps – Using Your Scraps – Follow Your Art

I have a card to share with you today made with scraps. The designer series paper (DSP) is so beautiful, it would be a shame to waste any of it. The Follow Your Art DSP is made for crafters as it features lots of crafty items such as ribbon and glue guns.

Scraps used to make a birthday card. All supplies are from Stampin' Up!
Scraps used to make a birthday card. All supplies are from Stampin’ Up!

I feel it is very important to use your scraps before they build up into a huge pile that is daunting to use. DSP is not cheap and I don’t want to waste a piece if I can help it.

I’ve used strips of the Follow Your Art DSP that I cut to size as needed. I only used adhesive in the middle of each strip so that I could tuck and layer as suited me.

measurements

  • Pacific Point cardbase – A6 – (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

This card is part of my drive to use what I have rather than buy new stuff and never use it. I am determined that by the time the Annual Catalogue retires I will have used everything I bought from it. Most years I find that I have a ton of DSP that is retired but not this year. I am using it and enjoying it too.

Mini Curvy Keepsake Box – Perfect for a Sweet Treat

Yes, that is correct, we have a Mini Curvy Keepsake Box. I’ve missed the original curvy keepsake box as I am sure you have too. It was so versatile and could be made into so Snowmen and Father Christmas but to name a few.

Mini Curvy Keepsake Box from Stampin' Up!
Mini Curvy Keepsake Box from Stampin’ Up!

The mini curvy keepsake box is new in the Autumn / Winter catalogue but it is not just for Christmas. It is perfect to hold a Ferrero Rocher chocolate or to use as a place card at a table. I have made it up here in my new favourite colour, Gorgeous Grape.

It, of course, is superb for Christmas as it’s a great size to hang up on a tree as Christmas decoration. You could also make an advent tree with it. Each little box would hold a treat for each day of advent.

This box is incredibly easy to make as it requires half a sheet of cardstock to make. You can use scraps of designer series paper and ribbon to decorate. It is also a great project for kids as once the box is made they can spend hours decorating them to their heart’s content.

Rainbow of Butterflies Thank you card using the Butterfly Gala stamp set from Stampin' Up!
Rainbow of Butterflies Thank you card using the Butterfly Gala stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

The Butterfly Gala stamp set has four matching sets of butterflies making this an incredibly useful set. I have stamped them in black Memento ink on the following cardstock colours: Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Pacific Point, Granny Apple Green and Gorgeous Grape.

The rainbow effect is bold and beautiful and the card needs nothing more than a sentiment to complete it.

measurements

  • Granny Apple Green A6 Cardbase (A6 is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

In the summer I see so many butterflies in the garden flittering around from flower to flower. They are so gorgeous and intricate in their patterns and colours. A marvel of nature.

I love using punches as they make cardmaking so simple and easy. You don’t need loads of different tools. Punches are also easy to use for children and a card like this is perfect for a child to make.
