How to Create a Card with Space for a Tag: Watch the Tutorial Now – Radiant Sunflowers – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – UK.

Sometimes the simplest card designs can have an extra little surprise. This card features a clever pocket that gives you space to add a removable tag, making the card a little more special and giving the recipient something they can use again.

For this project, I’ve combined the beautiful Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper with Early Espresso cardstock to create a warm and cheerful card that would be perfect for a birthday, celebration or simply to send some happy wishes.

A Card with a Hidden Tag

The main feature of this card is the tag tucked into the top of the card.

Rather than simply adding a tag as decoration, I designed the card so that the tag can be removed. This gives you somewhere to write an additional message, or you could even use the tag separately once the card has been received.

I think this is such a fun way to make a handmade card a little more interactive.

The tag is finished with a piece of ribbon at the top, making it easy to pull out of the card. I’ve left the tag fairly simple so there is plenty of room to add a handwritten message.

Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper

The Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper does most of the decorating on this card.

The bright sunflower designs are perfect for creating a cheerful card, and because the paper is already beautifully illustrated, you don’t need to add lots of extra stamping or embellishments.

I’ve used the floral pattern as the main feature of the card and kept the rest of the design relatively simple. The Early Espresso card base works particularly well with the darker centres of the sunflowers and helps the patterned paper stand out.

One of the great things about using Designer Series Paper in this way is that you can create a striking card without needing to spend lots of time colouring or creating a complicated focal point.

Adding the Sentiment

For the sentiment, I used the Words & Wishes Dies.

The large script sentiment makes a lovely focal point against the busy floral background. I’ve used a layered die-cut sentiment, which gives it plenty of dimension and helps it stand out from the Designer Series Paper.

You could easily change the sentiment to suit the occasion. A birthday greeting, congratulations, thank you or simple wishes would all work beautifully with this card design.

Why Not Try a Card with a Tag?

If you enjoy making cards that have something a little different about them, this is definitely a design worth trying.

The pocket could be adapted in lots of different ways. You could make a larger tag, decorate the tag with Designer Series Paper, add a stamped greeting or even create a tag that can later be used as a gift tag.

It would also be a lovely way to coordinate a handmade card and gift by using the same Designer Series Paper on both the card and the tag.
