This is a very simple card to make. The paper is the gorgeous Favored Flowers designer series paper (DSP). This is a freebie from Sale-a-bration. It is full of gorgeous florals that you can either use as a full sheet or fussy cut out to create lots of die cuts.

I’ve kept the design very simple so that the DSP is the focal point of the card. I tried adding various extra embellishments but they didn’t seem to add anything to the design so I left it clean and simple.

measurements

  • Fresh Freesia Cardstock – A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Basic White Cardstock – 14.35cm X 10cm
  • Favoured Flowers DSP – 14.35cm X 10cm

During SAB for every qualifying purchase, you can choose a freebie from the SAB catalogue. This was one of my freebies and I love it. There are 48 sheets of 12″ X 12″ paper in the pack. I love geraniums, my mother always has them in her garden. My favourite are the bright colours of red and pink. When I saw the Potted Geraniums set in the catalogue I wanted it and then of course never used it. I’ve changed this now.

I love the combination of red and blue together. Do you like them as a combo? This stamp set is a two step stamping set. You can stamp just the outline and colour the set it or use the second stamp.

I love pink and blue as a colour combination. It’s one I find myself returning to again and again. This is the gorgeous Framed Florets bundle. The dies cut out not just the stamped images but also these lovely frames. These tiny hearts cut like butter. So easy and so pretty.

The floral images are coloured using the Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers. The clean and light feel of this card really appeals to me.

I like big tags such as this one as they can double as a Christmas card as well. Two for the price of one, can’t be bad. This tag is actually the size of an A6 card front. I’ve rounded the top edges for some extra interest.

I’ve used the Painted Christmas designer series paper which makes a great background. The flowers and leaves were all stamped in one go and cut out together which means making this tag is easy and simple.

I’ve just discovered this technique. Yes, I know I’m late to the party. Can’t wait to try it out more. Double or even triple heat embossing adds a lot of depth and dimension to your heat embossing.

A few tips for you. You the stamparatus to stamp with as it makes sure that your placement for repeat stamping is accurate. Also, make sure your image is totally cool between embossing cycles. Finally, use your embossing buddy to make sure the powder only sticks where you stamp.

How Do I Heat Emboss? Simple Tips Tutorial – Focus Friday – Biggest Wish – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK

During the month of October Focus Friday is going to be looking at Heat Embossing. In this post, we are learning the basics of heat embossing. Heat embossing is a very easy technique that always gives a wow effect to your card. It really feels like magic watching the dull powder, turn glossy and shiny.

There are a number of tips I want to give you. Remember practice makes perfect. You will need to use a “sticky” ink like Versamark to heat emboss. You need very little powder to achieve a great effect. I always use an embossing buddy on my paper before I start to get rid of any static. This means the embossing powder will only stick where there is ink. Lastly, let your heat tool heat up for 30 seconds away from your card. This means it will be hot already and the powder will take less time to melt. This reduces the chance of any powder blowing away.

This is one of my go to style of cards. It’s a great way to stretch your designer series paper (DSP). I’ve used half a sheet of 6″ X 6″ paper. Sometimes I place the paper in the middle of the card and sometimes more to one side or the other.

The focal image is from Amazing Year. Such a beautiful simple bunch of flowers. They are coloured in using the Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers. Below is another way. Which do you prefer?
