If you’re looking for a thoughtful handmade gift that’s both beautiful and practical, this folio-style greetings card holder is the perfect project. Not only does it look elegant, but it also holds up to six handmade cards and envelopes, making it an ideal present for birthdays, Christmas, housewarming gifts or simply to treat a fellow crafter.

This project is quick to make, easy to personalise and a wonderful way to showcase your favourite Designer Series Paper.

A Handmade Gift That Keeps on Giving

Rather than giving just a single card, why not create a stylish holder filled with a collection of handmade cards? The recipient can then use the cards throughout the year, making this a gift they’ll enjoy long after they’ve received it.

Whether you fill it with birthday cards, thank you cards or a mixture of everyday greetings, this card holder adds a professional finishing touch.

Beautiful Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper

For this project, I chose the gorgeous Artisan Sketched Garden Designer Series Paper. The striking black and white floral pattern creates a bold, timeless look that pairs beautifully with colourful cardstock.

I made two versions of the holder using:

  • Balmy Blue
  • Highland Heather

Although the floral paper is monochrome, changing the cardstock completely transforms the finished look, giving you plenty of inspiration to customise the design using your own favourite colour combinations.

A Simple Yet Elegant Decoration

Keeping the front decoration clean and uncluttered allows the beautiful patterned paper to take centre stage.

I decorated each holder using the Everyday Arches Dies, adding layered arches that frame the focal point perfectly. To finish, I added floral die-cuts from the Mix & Match Ephemera Packs, creating dimension without any stamping or colouring.

It’s a simple combination that looks polished and sophisticated while keeping the project quick to complete.

Holds Six Cards and Envelopes

One of my favourite features of this project is its practicality.

Inside the folio are two spacious pockets that comfortably hold six handmade cards and envelopes. It’s an excellent way to organise cards or present a complete gift set.

You could easily adapt this project for:

  • Birthday card collections
  • Christmas card gift sets
  • Thank you card packs
  • Wedding or anniversary cards
  • New home gifts
  • Teacher appreciation gifts

It’s also a lovely project to sell at craft fairs or make as gifts for family and friends.
