I love rainbow cards. Do you? They are bright, happy and fun. What is not to love? I made this rainbow by ink blending. The white butterflies from the Sketched Butterflies set pop against this colourful background.

My rainbow colours are Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, Balmy Blue and Gorgeous Grape. I found they blended easily into each other. What colours would you use?

I love to make rainbow cards. This card features the Country Corners bundle. I stamped these frames six times and of course die cut them six times. This made enough frames for, you guessed it, six cards.

My favourite rainbow card colours are listed and linked in the supply list below. I love bold and bright colours but you could equally choose a pastel palette.

I love my rainbow cards. Normally I go for the bright bold colours but I decided to change things up for this baby card. I made a pastel rainbow instead and I love it. The critters in the Little Dreamers stamp set are just so cute. You just want to cuddle them, or perhaps that’s just me.

I used two different images for both of these pastel rainbow cards. One has the elephant and the other the cow. Which do you like best? I coloured the cow using our Stampin’ Write markers and the elephant using the Stampin’ Blend alcohol makers. I think they both work well here. Just remember to use Memento Tuxedo Black for the alcohol markers and Stazon Black for the Stampin’ Write Markers.

I was inspired to make this card after watching a video on YouTube by Nichol Spohr. She used different products but I adapted it to what I had. I love the way it turned out.

It really isn’t difficult to achieve a seamless blended background. There are a number of tips I can give you. One is not to overload your blending brush, secondly, I tap off my brush on my grid paper before I start to blend and thirdly take your time going back and forwards between colours until you achieve something you are happy with.

I love making rainbow-style cards. They are a great way to use your scraps and who doesn’t like to use their scraps up? I love when I’ve made the most of my stash.

This is a very simple design but the sentiment makes the card. I love big bold sentiments. They make easy cards. I’ve cut 1cm strips of cardstock to make this rainbow. My rainbow colours are:

  • Real Red
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Daffodil Delight
  • Granny Apple Green
  • Azzure Afternoon
  • Gorgeous Grape

Yes, they are meant to be carrots but turned upside down they make my rainbow of trees. I love rainbow cards such as this one. They are bright, fun and uplifting. The little brass brushed butterflies are the perfect embellishment for this card. They give a little shine and lots of texture.

My rainbow colours are:

  • Real Red
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • So Saffron
  • Garden Green

I’m back with another Friday Focus post. In May we have been looking at using colour in our cards. Today I am using all the colours in the rainbow here. I love making rainbow cards. They are vibrant, bold and such fun. These cute little dragonflies really pop.

I couldn’t resist doodling a little with a white gel pen to add highlights to the dragonflies. The rhinestones are the perfect finishing touch.

Do any of you remember a series on Tv called Rainbow Brite. I had the doll and few other bits if I recall correctly. I think I also did a tapestry of her but not sure where that is now. Rainbows are magic to me. There is a scientific reason why they happen but to see one in the sky is magic.

In the new catalogue Stampin’ Up! brought out some soft pastels and I’ve been dying to play with them. They are beautifully soft and creamy. I blended them with water and then went over the image again with pastel to get a better blend. It is definitely a learning curve and I know I am going to have fun learning and playing more with these new colouring mediums.

Rainbow Banners – Birthday Card – Stampin’ Up!

I absolutely love how this card turned out. The rainbow of banners are just so much fun and how doesn’t love a rainbow?

Rainbow Banners - Birthday Card - Stampin' Up!
Rainbow Banners – Birthday Card – Stampin’ Up!

This type of card is a great way to use up your scraps. I’ve done many cards based on the rainbow theme and they always are a success. These are strips of cardstock that otherwise would have gone in the recycling. The one end is punched using the new “Banners Pick a Punch” punch from the new mini catalogue.

I do love rainbows. They are so special. I don’t think there is many people that don’t stop to marvel at the glory and beauty of a rainbow in the sky. They are a natural marvel that brings a smile to your face and feels you with joy at the wonder of nature.
