Inspiring Snapdragons – Just Use the Dies – Easy Card Tutorial – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK.

I love it when Stampin’ Up! makes dies that can be used with the matching stamp set or entirely on their own. It increases the versatility of the set and as the saying it gives you more bang for your buck.

This is a card I designed for my cards my post club. I can’t include stamped images in my kits as per Stampin’ Up! policy so I focus on pretty papers and die cuts. This card fits the bill on both counts, wouldn’t you agree?

measurements

  • Thick Basic White Cardstock – A6 Card Base – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half.
  • Unbound Beauty designer series paper (DSP). 14.35cm X 10cm

I was searching Pinterest for inspiration and found this fun fold card. The original measurements were in inches so I converted everything to metric and this is what I came up with. It features the Unbound Beauty designer series paper (DSP) alongside the Flowers of Beauty stamp set.

I love stamp sets that have matching dies and stencils. They make creating beautiful cards a breeze. As a mixed media artist, I do love all the finishing details and one of them is using a white pen. I’ve used it here to highlight the flower centres and petals. The images pop. Do you agree?

My tip is to ensure your ink is totally dry, not just touch dry. Your pen will work much better. I gave the image a blast from my heat tool to ensure it was dry.

This is a simple card design. It makes the most of the gorgeous Unbound Beauty designer series paper (DSP). I’ve added some foliage to embellish the sentiment and wrapped some twine around the bottom portion of the card for extra interest. It doesn’t show very well on the photos but I’ve added clear Wink of Stella to the foliage for some extra sparkle.

I love how this card turned out. It screams summer to me. The cheeky expression on the bee is cute. The Bee Mine stamp set has a variety of different expressions you can use on the face of the bee or any critter for that matter. The stamp set pairs beautifully with the Full of Live designer series paper (DSP). I’ve used both sides of the sheet in this card so there is no waste.

A panel design is great way to use up these busy or scenic papers. It lets them be the star of the card. The designer series paper (DSP) above is the Thoughtful Journies DSP. I love the soft colours. I’ve paired with a simple sentiment backed on some matching glimmer paper.

Below you can see the same card except this time I’ve used the Meandering Meadows DSP. Which version do you prefer? Let me know in the comments below.

The blackout technique seems to be taking the crafting world by storm. I love the effect but struggle with so much black on a card. I like bright, light and vibrant cards. Therefore I decided to do the technique but not use a black ink pad.

To make this card I dry embossed using the Layered Florals embossing folder. I then used Petunia Pop to create the same effect as a black ink pad. I tried the same technique using a Blueberry Bushel ink pad. What do you think of the results?

The version above uses Poppy Parade, Real Red and Cherry Cobbler. I have a lovely red rose outside my front door, which inspired this card. My neighbours have a yellow rose and this inspired the card below. Which one do you prefer? Let me know in the comments.

As some of you know I design my cards weeks ahead of them going “live” on my blog. I was watching the Chelsea Flower Show and as you may know, my maternal family is from South Africa. The South African stand got a Gold Medal and Best Stand in the Great Pavilion. This was the inspiration behind this card.
