I am resisting the Ombre technique. This allows you to merge two similar tones of colour on one image. It looks great and the best part is, that it’s very easy to achieve.

You can use a sponge dauber, blending brush or piece of sponge to achieve this effect. I stamped my image, which is my birthday sentiment in one lightest colour. In this example that is Flirty Flamingo. I then inked up the bottom part of the image with the darker colour and restamped it.

I love stencils and have an extensive collection. Do I use them enough? Of course not, like most crafters I have stuff I love to have but don’t use. I realised the other day that I haven’t used these stencils and they have been in my stash for nearly a year. I don’t want them to retire and I never used them.

The stencil I used today has these little stripes that repeat. It is perfect for this technique of off-setting the stencil. I’ve used a mixture of colours that I have blended together.

The trick to this technique is to use a very light hand when inking over your embossed image. You just need to glide your blending brush over the embossed image with no pressure at all. This way it will pick up the raised embossing only.

I’ve kept this card very tonal. The silver spring charm is quite chunky so make sure it is securely attached using glue dots or wet glue.

The photo doesn’t do this card justice. It is difficult to photograph the variations and depth the ink blending gives this card.

In this Focus Friday project, I’m looking at using masking paper to create an image on the card. Here I’ve used it to make this perfect white circle surrounded by the inked background. I’ve used the layering circle dies to cut the circle out of masking paper. You can re-use this mask so keep the backing paper safe.

This is very simple card to make. You can make a quite a few in a short space of time. Great card to get the kids involved as well. These card fit perfectly in the little card box we made in the last post. Together they are great gift.

This is Focus Friday card. During this month we are looking at different masking techniques. You may wonder where I’ve used this technique in the card above. It was for the sentiment. The original sentiment read “Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year”. I only wanted Merry Christmas and I wanted the word Christmas to below Merry. I masked off parts of the sentiment to achieve this. See the video below to find out how.

I love this stamp set. The photo doesn’t do this photo justice. When I saw this set in the catalogue I just had to have it. These little mice are just the cutest. I so enjoyed colouring them with the Stmapin’ Blend Alcohol markers. When I’m colouring I relax and totally lose track of time.

Currently, I’m trying to do more than one version of each card I make. Today is no exception. Above is very traditional and below is the Tahitian Tide / Orchid Oasis one. I think I prefer the traditional Real Red and Shaded Spruce but it is a close run contest.

How to get a Bright White Effect on Cards – Heat Embossing – Focus Friday – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator – Lincoln UK

Such a simple but effective Christmas Card. During the month of October, we have been focusing on heat embossing. Today I showed how effective it is to white heat emboss on coloured cardstock. It is the best way to achieve this bright white effect. Even if you use a white pigment ink you won’t get this bright white effect.

I’ve just discovered this technique. Yes, I know I’m late to the party. Can’t wait to try it out more. Double or even triple heat embossing adds a lot of depth and dimension to your heat embossing.

A few tips for you. You the stamparatus to stamp with as it makes sure that your placement for repeat stamping is accurate. Also, make sure your image is totally cool between embossing cycles. Finally, use your embossing buddy to make sure the powder only sticks where you stamp.

How Do I Heat Emboss? Simple Tips Tutorial – Focus Friday – Biggest Wish – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK

During the month of October Focus Friday is going to be looking at Heat Embossing. In this post, we are learning the basics of heat embossing. Heat embossing is a very easy technique that always gives a wow effect to your card. It really feels like magic watching the dull powder, turn glossy and shiny.

There are a number of tips I want to give you. Remember practice makes perfect. You will need to use a “sticky” ink like Versamark to heat emboss. You need very little powder to achieve a great effect. I always use an embossing buddy on my paper before I start to get rid of any static. This means the embossing powder will only stick where there is ink. Lastly, let your heat tool heat up for 30 seconds away from your card. This means it will be hot already and the powder will take less time to melt. This reduces the chance of any powder blowing away.
