This is a cute little gift box. It has a magnetic closure as well as a belly band. It’s perfect to hold a few bags of mini skittles. So cute and easy to make. I’ve made this in two different colours. Let me know which one you prefer.

During the month of October Focus Friday is going to be looking at Heat Embossing. In this post, we are learning the basics of heat embossing. Heat embossing is a very easy technique that always gives a wow effect to your card. It really feels like magic watching the dull powder, turn glossy and shiny.

There are a number of tips I want to give you. Remember practice makes perfect. You will need to use a “sticky” ink like Versamark to heat emboss. You need very little powder to achieve a great effect. I always use an embossing buddy on my paper before I start to get rid of any static. This means the embossing powder will only stick where there is ink. Lastly, let your heat tool heat up for 30 seconds away from your card. This means it will be hot already and the powder will take less time to melt. This reduces the chance of any powder blowing away.

This is a very simple card to make. The banner and sentiment pull the whole thing together. I’ve used different patterns for each panel but they are all from the same collection so they match very well. The little bit of white around the panels really makes everything pop.
