Using Your Background Stamps in a Different Way – Knit Together – Go To Greetings – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up Demo!

Welcome to this Focus Friday post. I wanted to play this week with the large background stamp, ” Knit Together”. I’ve only used it once before. It’s a great stamp set. I’ve stamped it twice and then cut it apart to make these strips.

Tone on Tone Effect – How to Achieve it with Stencils – Happiest of Birthday – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up D

Welcome to this Focus Friday post. Today we are looking at using stencils to give a tone on tone effect on cards. You can see this effect in the picture above. It gives some added interest to the background of the card and helps makes the sentiment really pop. For extra interest, I have added a velum doily to the top and bottom of the sentiment. This is an extra layer of interest but you can still the background behind it.

I love how this card turned out. These flowers are so pretty. They were super easy to create using the Stamparatus. The stamp set is Art Gallery and it’s a two-step stamping set. Check out the video below for some tips & tricks for using the Stamparatus that make two-step stamping a breeze. Bermuda is my favourite colour and even though it may not be a typical colour for a flower I think they look amazing.

I love making these cards with big, bold sentiments. They pop and make a real statement. The stamp set I used is “Ornate Thanks”. I used the heck out of this set. It’s one of my favourites. The designer series paper (DSP) is the “Oh So Ombre” pack. It is one of the items you can get free during Sale-a-bration and it’s Bermuda Bay!! A favourite colour of mine. What could be better.

Stained Glass Effect Card – Stampin’ Up!

Hello again. I’m back with another card to share with you. I’m calling this my stained glass effect card as I feel the back strips between each segment are like the black lead work on a stained glass window.

Stained Glass Effect Card - Stampin' Up!
Stained Glass Effect Card – Stampin’ Up!

As you may know both Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana are favourite colours of mine. I’ve used them here together and they go rather well don’t you think? This card was inspired by a card by upline Amanda Fowler did with us in team training. I’m very pleased with how it turned out and am going to do a few more using different colour combinations. I will share them with you as well.

I use the Tombow multipurpose liquid glue to stick everything down on this card. Oh Boy!!! Did I get glue everywhere? I had it on my fingers, my craft mat, the cardstock, my silicone mat, etc…. I think you get the picture. Wet glue and me, don’t’ always get on. I have a bad habit of sticking my fingers in the glue!!!

measurements

  • Basic Black A6 Card Base – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Basic Black – 14.35cm X 10cm
  • Coastal Cabana – 14.35 X 10cm
  • Bermuda Bay – 14.35cm X 1S0cm

Funky Zebras – Zany Zebras – Stampin’ Up!

Hello again, I hope this finds you all well. I have this cute card featuring these funky zebras. I love them!! They are so cute and funny. What do you think?

Funky Zebras - Zany Zebras - Stampin' Up!
Funky Zebras – Zany Zebras – Stampin’ Up!

The colour here is an all time favourite of mine, Bermuda Bay. I’ve kept it very monochromatic. The designer series paper is Coastal Cabana and is from the Brights Family stack. I’ve used some rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestone selection.

measurements

  • Bermuda Bay A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Coastal Cabana DSP – 14.35cm x 10cm

The stamp set is Zany Zebras. When I first saw it on catalogue I was in two minds about purchasing it but I am really glad I did. I’ve seen so many people using it and it has really inspired me. The cards are easy to make and you make them in a variety of colours.

Many Medallions Die-Cut Card – Stampin’ Up!

I this super easy card to share with you today featuring the Many Medallions die set. This card is perfect for those who want to keep stamping to a minium but still make pretty cards.

Many Medallions Die-Cut Card - Stampin' Up!
Many Medallions Die-Cut Card – Stampin’ Up!

The colours here are Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana, two of my all-time favourites. They work so well together don’t you think? This die-cut is actually just one die. I backed a piece of coastal cabana on to the adhesive sheet and then die cut the two together. This turns the die-cut into one big sticker. I ran it through a few times and it came out super easy.

I think large intricate dies like this can scare people but they are really easy to use and the inserts fall out very easily. They for easy cards with a big impact. I’ve paired here with a birthday sentiment from the Many Mates stamp set. You can get the die and stamp set as a bundle for a 10% discount.

Cherry Blossom – Parisian Blossom Card

I have ultra simple card to share with you today. The inspiration for this card came from the all the Cherry Blossom that has been out in the last few weeks here in Lincoln. It has been everywhere!! I loved seeing it on my weekly trips to the supermarket. It was the highlight of the trip out.

Cherry Blossom - Parisian Blossom Card
Cherry Blossom – Parisian Blossom Card

The base colour here is Bermuda Bay, one of my all time favourites. Pool Party is the colour in the Parisian Blooms Designer Series Paper (DSP) and I think it goes perfectly with the Bermuda Bay. This DSP has champagne foiling which is so pretty.

I’ve tried to use up my scraps and retiring products so I can make the best use of them before they go. I don’t want them to just sit in my stash and not to see the light of day again. The Bermuda Bay ribbon is one of these items alongside the DSP.

Perennial Birthday is the stamp set here and it is retiring!! I thought it would but I was hoping it wouldn’t. I love it for this bold Happy Birthday sentiment. If there are any sets retiring that you love and don’t have then get them now before they go forever.

  • Bermuda Bay A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half then folded in half

Monochromatic – Thank you Card – A Little Lace

I have this gorgeous monochromatic thank you card to share with you today. This colour uses one of my favourite colours, Bermuda Bay. I love the rich vibrancy of this colour against the whisper white. It works well. What do you think?

Monochromatic - Thank you Card - A Little Lace
Monochromatic – Thank you Card – A Little Lace

A Little Lace is a gorgeous stamp set. I’ve used it before to stamp my own patterned paper to make a bag. I’ll link the video below. This is a great set as it contains sentiments and this lovely lace stamp. Last time I used Melon Mambo and it looked equally

Everything can do with some bling at times. I’ve used the clear faceted gems in the flower centres for some sparkle. They really lift the card and make it come alive.

I will admit that in the last week I feel as I’ve lost my mojo. I am struggling with words to write this blog. Is anyone else feeling the same, I have all the time in the world to craft but just don’t feel like it. Typical!!

This card uses an old technique. I don’t know what is called. I stamped all three white layers together and then separated them so that pattern continues across all the pieces.

measurements

  • Whisper White:
    • 14.35cm x 10cm
    • 11.85cm x 7.5cm
    • 9.35cm x 5cm
  • Bermuda Bay:
    • 12.35cm x 8cm
    • 9.85cm x 5.5cm
    • A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half

The thank you sentiment is from the Label Me Pretty stamp set, an older one but still a great one. I’ve used punches so there is no need for any die cutting here.
