A Fun and Interactive Valentine Card Idea

If you’re looking for a Valentine card that really makes an impact, this Valentine Heart Shaker Card – Endless Love is a perfect choice. Shaker cards are always a favourite, and the heart-shaped window filled with confetti adds movement, texture and plenty of wow factor.

This design is ideal for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or simply sending a little love to someone special.

Endless Love Stamp & Die Set

For this card, I used the Endless Love stamp set along with the matching die set, which made creating the heart-shaped shaker window quick and easy. The coordinating dies give such a clean finish and are perfect for shaker-style cards where precision really matters.

The sentiment sits neatly on the front, keeping the design simple while still letting the shaker element shine.

Colour Palette and Designer Series Paper

I chose a classic Valentine colour combination of Flirty Flamingo and Real Red, which works beautifully for love-themed cards. The soft pink tones paired with bold red create a lovely contrast without overpowering the design.

The Made with Love Designer Series Paper adds subtle pattern and interest behind the shaker window, helping to frame the heart and enhance the overall look of the card.

Heart Shaker Details

The shaker heart is filled with heart-shaped confetti from my personal stash. Using a mix of sizes and shades gives the shaker lots of movement and makes it extra eye-catching when the card is tilted. Shaker cards are such a fun way to add interactivity, and they’re always a hit with the recipient.

This design is simple enough to recreate but looks really effective once finished.

measurements

  • Thick Basic White Cardstock – A6 Card Base – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half.
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock – 14.35cm x 10cm
  • Made with Love designer series paper (DSP) – 14.35cm X 10cm X 2 pieces

A Lovely Card for Any Occasion

Although this card is perfect for Valentine’s Day, it would also work beautifully for anniversaries, weddings, or just to send a heartfelt message to someone you love. Changing up the colours or sentiment would easily adapt this design for other occasions too.

How to Create a Simple Shaker Card – Nests of Winter

How to Create a Simple Shaker Card – Nests of Winter – Peace on Earth- Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK.

How to Create a Simple Shaker Card – Nests of Winter – Peace on Earth- Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK.

If you’re looking for a quick yet eye-catching way to elevate your handmade cards, a shaker card is the perfect choice! Today, I’m sharing how I made this full-panel shaker card using the Peace on Earth stamp set and the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper (DSP).

This project combines the charm of winter birds with the sparkle of gold sequins, creating a card that’s both interactive and beautiful.

Fussy Cutting for a Personal Touch

The focal point of this card is the pair of winter birds, which I fussy cut directly from the Nests of Winter DSP. Fussy cutting enables you to accentuate specific elements from patterned paper, lending your card a unique, handcrafted appearance. The background panel also comes from the same DSP, tying the design together.

How to Create a Simple Shaker Card – Nests of Winter – Peace on Earth- Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK.

Creating a Full Card Panel Shaker

Instead of making a smaller shaker window, I opted for a full-panel shaker card for maximum impact. This means the entire card front is filled with sequins that move freely when you shake it. The movement and sparkle instantly grab attention, making it a card your recipient will love.

Using a Cello Bag for the Shaker Element

One of my favourite tricks for making shaker cards quick and easy is to use a cello bag. I cut down an A5 cello bag, enough for two shaker cards, added sequins—in this case, I used a mix of gold sequins for that festive shine. Attach the sealed panel to your card base, and you’ve got a stunning shaker effect without the need for foam tape or complicated construction.

Sentiment and Finishing Touches

The sentiment, “All the best in your new adventure!”, comes from the Peace on Earth stamp set. I stamped it in crisp black ink and layered it with coordinating cardstock to help it stand out against the busy shaker background.

The end result is a bright, cheerful, and fun card that’s surprisingly simple to create—perfect for celebrating new beginnings.

Sunshine Vibes. Time to Make a Shaker Card. – Layered Thoughts – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up Demo – Lincoln UK

Looking for a bright, tactile twist on a classic birthday greeting? Today’s project is all about capturing that joyful Sunshine Vibes energy in a rainbow shaker card that jingles with every shake and shimmer.

Sunshine Vibes. Time to Make a Shaker Card.
Sunshine Vibes. Time to Make a Shaker Card.

The Inspiration Behind the Design

I wanted a card that felt like summer in an envelope—sunshine yellow, floral whimsy and a playful interactive element. The new Layered Thoughts stamp set delivers bold, sketch‑style sentiments that pair perfectly with a rainbow of sequins. By teaming it with Floral Delight Designer Series Paper and the Sunshine Vibes dies, I could spotlight both colour and movement in one simple layout.

Product Snapshot & Colour Palette

  • Stamp Set: Layered Thoughts
  • Dies: Sunshine Vibes (for that fabulous arched rainbow)
  • Card Base: Old Olive – a fresh, grounding green
  • Ink: Daffodil Delight – pure sunshine in a pad
  • DSP: Floral Delight – soft blooms and a subtle linen texture
  • Window Sheet: Stampin’ Up!’s acetate for shaker cards
  • Shaker Mix: Sequins from my crafty stash

These shades work together to keep the design cohesive while letting the interactive rainbow steal the show.

Building the Rainbow Shaker Element

  1. Die‑Cut the Arches – Centre the Sunshine Vibes rainbow on Floral Delight DSP and run it through your die‑cutting machine. Keep the negative panel for the card front and save the arches for another project.
  2. Create the Window – Adhere a Window Sheet behind the die‑cut panel so the entire rainbow aperture is covered and ready to corral the shaker pieces.
  3. Add Dimension – Line the back of the panel with foam adhesive strips, following the rainbow curve to seal the arch. This ensures the sequins stay in place when shaken. If you take the backing off the foam adhesive strips first, they are much easier to manipulate.
  4. Fill the Wells – Drop your sequin mixes into the arch cavity. Use just enough to move freely without overcrowding.
  5. Seal the Shaker – Place a layer of Basic White cardstock over the foam adhesive to trap the shaker mix, then flip to admire your new rainbow confetti window.

Stamping Crisp Sentiments with Layered Thoughts

To keep the greeting bold and legible against the lively background, stamp “Happy Birthday” from Layered Thoughts in Daffodil Delight onto Basic White. For extra pop, double‑stamp (using a Stamparatus or stamp platform) to deepen the colour and mimic the textured sketch lines of the font.

Assembly & Finishing Touches

  • Mat the shaker panel onto an Old Olive card base for a slim border that frames the florals.
  • Scatter a few spare sequins on the card front to echo the movement inside the shaker and draw the eye across the design.

Below is another version of this card using the Boho Vibes paper. Which version do you prefer?

Tips

I do have a few tips to share. Firstly remove the backing to the foam strips before you apply. This makes the strips more malleable and easy to shape. Secondly, ensure you enclose your shaker window with foam strips and have no gaps. Thirdly once you have closed up your shaker give the adhesive a good press with your bone folder to ensure good adhesion.

I do love a shaker card. I’ve made quite a few this year. This card features the Merry & Bright bundle. The back panel is just one shaker window but of course, you see three separate shaker windows on the front.

The sequin mix is from stash. I am trying to use what I have and these colours match the card perfectly. The card front is hand-stamped. I love it, so colourful and bright.

I’ve used the Deckled Circle dies to create this lovely circle shaker ornament. I’m really pleased with how it turned out. Do you like it?

The Beary Cute punch punches out the bears in the “A Walk in the Forest” designer series paper (DSP). The Merriest Trees dies also cut the trees from the same DSP. I’ve used both here to create my scene in the ornament.

I will admit the silver and gold sequins in the shaker are from my stash so I can link to where I got them. I’m sure you have some in your stash too, that you can use.

I’m really getting back into making shaker cards, so expect to see more shaker cards and tags on my blog in the run-up to Christmas. This is a card we made in the card club that I host in my Facebook Group.

It is easy to make using the Merriest Tree Dies. Full disclosure, I did use some sequins from my stash for the shaker elements. I have a ton and want to use them up. Do you have anything you are trying to use up from your stash?

I do love a shaker card, do you? I was watching a video on YouTube, the lady was making a full card shaker and it reminded me that I haven’t done one of these in a while so I changed that.

The designer series paper (DSP) is Snowflake Magic and it is absolutely gorgeous. I love all the foiling. It’s so pretty that I didn’t want to do much to detract from it.
