Tulips and Windmills Thank You Card

Tulips are my favourite flower. I love this simple watercoloured thank you card using the Winds of Change stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

Tulips are gorgeous or at least I think so. I love to see the first Tulips in the shops in early Spring and bring home a bunch for the hall table. They are beautiful even when they are going on when I feel they look almost like orchids.

We also have tulips in the back garden every year. The breadth of shapes and shapes are amazing. When I loved in London we used to go every year to the Chelsea Flower Show and I have hundreds of pictures of tulips from the amazing nurseries in the Great Pavilion.

Tulips and Windmills. Thank you card using the Winds of Change stamp set from Stampin' Up!
Thank you card using the Winds of Change stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

When I first saw the Winds of Change stamp set in the catalogue I fell in love. It is my style of stamp set. I love to watercolour and actually got into paper crafting through watercolouring. I find it an easy medium to colour with and it is very forgiving of mistakes.

measurements

There are no measurements for this card except the card base which is a standard A6 card base in Balmy Blue. I stamped the image of the tulips and windmill and then cut out my piece of shimmery white cardstock depending on how I stamped and coloured the image.

I adore these little Design Elements that I have used to embellish the bottom of the card. They are metal and so versatile. They remind me of cogs in the windmill and would be great on a steampunk card.

My question for today is what is your favourite flower and why? Let me know in the comment section.

GateFold Card – Magnolia Lane

I have a gatefold card to share with you today using the ever lovely Magnolia Lane designer series paper (DSP). Generally speaking, I’m not a fan of fancy folds with lots of frills and trims. I prefer to play with colour and texture. I gave it go and I’m quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Gate fold card using the Magnolia Lane designer series paper from Stampin' Up!
Gate fold card using the Magnolia Lane designer series paper from Stampin’ Up!

I love the Magnolia Lane DSP. Currently, I’m making a paper bag mini album using this paper and have nearly finished my first packet so am off to order more shortly.

measurements

  • Mossy Meadow cardstock – A5 – (A5 is just an A4 sheet cut in half on the long side) – Score at 5.25cm on each side – I just used my trimmer to score it.
  • Magnolia Lane DSP – 10cm x 14.35cm
  • Whisper White cardstock – 10cm x 14.35cm

I’ve used the coordinating stamp set Good Morning Magnolia to stamp some flowers and foliage on the inside of this gatefold card. These stamps lend themselves beautifully to being coloured in with the Stampin Blends. I really enjoyed this part of the card as I adore colouring in.

I’m not sure I will do another gatefold card as I found it difficult to decorate and I don’t feel it’s my style. Do you have a particular style? Let me know in the comments.

As always there is video tutorial below with the accompanying supply list.

Thank you card Tutorial – Bird Ballard Suite

Thank you card tutorial using the Bird Ballard suite of products from Stampin’ Up!

I have another card to share with you today that features fussy cutting. Yes, its the birds again from the Bird Ballard designer series paper (DSP). I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love the birds on this paper.

As I write this I can hear the birds tweeting merrily away outside. I think they are happy the days of rain have stopped and that we have a dry sunny day here today. I took my mother to the Chinese supermarket in town to get some mooli which is an Indian white radish. It is also called a daikon and is eaten often in South and East Asia. Outside the shop, there is a starling’s nest that has one baby. This baby is not too clever though, bless it. It keeps flying into the shop and the mother is forever calling for it to come back out. Perhaps it’s trying to imitate us and going shopping for food instead of searching the ground for it.

This card is another quick and easy make. The focal image is just fussy cut from the Bird Ballard DSP and then a quick sentiment is stamped and the card assembled.

Measurements

  • Pool Party A6 card base
  • Pretty Peacock In Colours 2019 – 2021 DSP 13.35 cm x 9 cm.
  • Scalloped Lace Trim – 12 cm long

One reason I love Stampin’ Up! is that the coordination of products is great. This is shown here with matching ink and card base.

Butterflies and Birthday Wishes Card Tutorial

I have a sweet and simple birthday card featuring butterflies and the Bird Ballard Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Butterflies and Birthday wishes card using the Bird Ballard paper from Stampin' Up!
Butterflies and Birthday wishes card using the Bird Ballard paper from Stampin’ Up!

This card features two things I love, butterflies and flowers. I love walking through the garden and seeing the butterflies flitting about from flower to flower. They are so delicate and beautiful and yet so strong. Seeing a butterfly makes my heart sing and puts a smile on my face.

I like the simplicity and yet the bright vibrancy of this card. The background DSP is quite busy and I felt the sentiment got lost it so I popped it up on the band of daffodil delight card.

Measurements

  • Thick Whisper White A6 Card Base
  • Old Olive cardstock 14.35cm x 10cm
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock – 9cm x 4.5cm
  • Bird Ballard DSP – 13.85cm x 9cm

As always there is a video of the process below along with the supply list.

While using the Bird Ballard DSP I have fallen more and more in love with it and I hope that these projects will make you fall in love too. Here is a link to another card made using this paper.

Heat Embossed Birthday Card – Magnolia Lane

This heat embossed birthday card uses the Magnolia Lane products from Stampin’ Up! This is a very simple card that has an extra wow added through the heat embossing.

The Magnolia Lane designer series paper (DSP) is so beautiful that I didn’t want to cover it up with stamping and embellishments. I therefore create this simple but elegant card.

Heat Embossed Happy Birthday card made with supplies from Stampin' Up!
Happy Birthday card made with supplies from Stampin’ Up!

As I have said previously I love magnolias as like the blossom they herald the start of spring for me. We have quite a few magnolia trees near us here in Lincoln and they are a joy to me each year. In fact, nature has such a calming influence over me when I am anxious, unwell or just plain down in the dumps. The magic of every new flower is breathtaking.

I love the heat embossing on this card. Sometimes I think we forget what a great technique heat embossing is. I certainly won’t forget the first time I heat embossed something and the magic at watching the dull powder turn bright and shining.

Measurements

  • Mossy Meadow A6 card base
  • Magnolia Lane DSP – 14.35cm x 10cm
  • Vellum – 10cm x 4cm

This sentiment is heat embossed using white and therefore stand out nicely from the darker background. The heat to trick to heat embossing on vellum is get your heat tool good and hot before you bring into the vellum. This way it will melt the powder quickly with little warping to the paper. If there is any warping, just heat it from the bottom and it should even out.

Below is a video for this card with the supply list below.

Here are some links to some other projects made using this gorgeous DSP.

I, therefore, want to thank you for dropping by and until next time Enjoy Being Creative!!

Daisy Daisy, give me your answer

This Daisy birthday card reminders me of the old song we used to sing as children. The card uses both the large Daisy punch as well as the Daisy Lane stamp set.

Daisy Lane Birthday Card, made using supplies from Stampin' Up!

I love daisies, as Meg Ryan said in You’ve Got Mail, “They’re so friendly”. My Granny always had a beautiful big yellow daisy bush in her garden back in South Africa. I have many pictures it and of me standing in front of it. Daisies therefore hold a special place in my heart as they remind me of my Granny. We couldn’t find a yellow Marguerite in the UK for years but we have one now which is starting to flower this year.

This card uses a plethora of techniques including, emboss resist, inking and punching. I enjoy mixing things up and seeing what happens.

Bold and Bright colours are my thing and this card ticks both those boxes for me. I have used the Mango Melody, So Saffron and Daffodil Delight inks to make a blended background.

The stamp set is a new set called Daisy Lane which is companion set to the Daisy Delight set that carried over. They both coordinate with the large and medium Daisy punch. If you already have the one set then this is a great addition to your stash.

Measurements

  • Night of Navy A6 Card base
  • Whisper White 14.35cm x 10cm

I did video showing all the steps to make this card which is below with the supply list.

Birthday card using the Memorable Mosaic Suite of products from Stampin’ Up!

Another completed another project using the Memorable Mosaic Suite of products. I love the ease and versatility of this paper. You can fussy cut it or just use it as it is for projects.

I have always loved Roman history and actually took Latin up to GCSE. I find this paper is reminiscent of a Roman mosaic. The inspiration for this card was actually the Roman baths which you step down into such as the Roman baths in Bath.

I have termed this card a sunken card. I have popped up the outer frame on two layers of foam tape, the next frame in on one layer and then the sentiment is flush with the card base.

other projects using this paper

There are a few other projects I made using this suite of products. These include a bag with a magnetic closure and another card with two birds kissing. Which project do you prefer? Leave me a comment below and let me know. Personally, I feel this is my favourite as I love the vibrant colours of the terracotta tile and crushed curry in the bird.

As always I have done a video on YouTube and the supply list is below.

Birds, Birds, Birds!! This suite is all about the birdies. The Bird Ballard paper is made for the fussy cutter fanatic. I love the dawn chorus most days but this morning I have to say it woke me up at 3.30am and which I didn’t appreciate.

Bird Ballard designer series of paper used to make this birthday card

I have always been lucky to live in tree lined streets and areas with lots of hedges and vegetation. We moved to Lincoln 3 years ago from London. In London, I loved only a street away from the busy North Circular road and yet the number of birds we had was amazing due to all the hedges. There were often magpies, black birds, crows as well as lots of little robbins on the grass verges or making a cacophony of noise in the trees.

measurements

  • Standard A6 Early Espresso Card base
  • Bird Ballard DSP – 14.35cm x 10cm
  • Whisper white – 8.5cm x 3cm
  • Early Espresso small piece – 9cm x 3.5cm
  • Early Espresso large piece – 9.cm x 7.5cm

I’m not a mad fan of fussy cutting but this paper made me do it. What do you think of this paper? Leave me a comment below.

I have used the coordinating paper for several projects that you will see in the next few weeks. There are papers with images of glue guns, paint brushes, buttons etc… A dream for someone like me.
