The last hurrah – Bird Ballad Card – Stampin’ Up!

This the last hurrah for the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper (DSP). All our DSP is retiring on the 2nd June. I am using my favourites for the last few projects of this catalogue year.

The last hurrah - Bird Ballad Card - Stampin' Up!
The last hurrah – Bird Ballad Card – Stampin’ Up!

I have used this paper quite a number of times but still have some left. It is simply gorgeous and perfect for those who enjoy fussy cutting. Personally, I have hate fussy cutting. I do it when I have to achieve the effect I want such as in this instance. Some people find it relaxing, I find it a chore. I’ve come to the conclusion that I am not patient enough!!

I will admit that the fussy cut birds to look beautiful against the simpler background. It will be sad to see them go. The stamp called Free a Bird, thankfully, is not retiring so we can all enjoy still part of this suite or products.

measurements

  • Thick Whisper White A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Bird Ballad DSP – 14.35cm x 10cm

The birds have been enjoying this nice weather as well. They wake me up every morning early with their dawn songs. I love watching them searching for food in the garden. They are so free and I am jealous. I hope we can be as free as a bird soon.

Mosaic Mood Birds – Birthday Card Tutorial

Mosaic Mood was one of the first designer series paper packs I used way back in June last year. It is fitting that it finds its way into my last few projects of this catalogue year. I’ve therefore created this Mosaic Mood Birds card.

Mosaic Mood Birds - Birthday Card Tutorial
Mosaic Mood Birds – Birthday Card Tutorial

I’ve fussy cut these two birds out of the Mosaic Mood DSP. They are very easier to do even for me!! I am not a lover of fussy cutting so I can do it you can do it too. Everything is popped up on dimensionals which give this card extra interest.

This DSP has the feel of being heat embossed as parts of it are glossy like a mosaic. I’ve combined everything with a simple sentiment from the “A Wish for Everything” stamp set. I think it turned out well.

Mosaics were synonymous with the Romans. As some of you know I was born and bred in London which is a very old Roman city. The Roman named was Londinium. You can still see part of the Roman wall in the city. I remember my father showing it to me when I was very young and I’ve always been fascinated with it. I was lucky to move a few years ago to another old Roman told, Lincoln. Its Roman name was Lindum Colonia. There is also part of the old Roman wall about 5 minutes drive from me as well as the old arch going in the Bailgate area. I love history and I am blessed to live with so much history around me.

Blue Poppies – Himalayan Blue Poppy

I have this gorgeous card to share with you today using blue poppies. This card is my interpretation of the Himalayan blue poppy. This is a pretty blue flower with a little yellow centre. When I saw it I knew I wanted to try and make a card around this idea.

Blue Poppies - Himalayan Blue Poppy
Blue Poppies – Himalayan Blue Poppy

I am really pleased with how this turned out and I hope you like it to. The card is mainly die cutting. The l ight blue is Balmy Blue and the Pacific Point gives a contrast to the flower. The leaves are Pear Pizzazz (Light Green) and Old Olive (Dark Green)

The die set does come with a die to cut out flower centres but I thought these gold faceted gems work perfectly and also give some bling to the card. These gems are unfortunately retiring but still available as I write this.

I did some research on the Himalayan blue poppy. It was formally named in 1912 by Lt. Col. Frederick Marshman Bailey. It is hardy in much of the UK and is perennial so comes back every year. How great is that? I definitely want to try and grow some in the garden. They would look gorgeous in a cottage garden.

measurements

  • A6 Pacific Point Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

other floral projects

I hope you enjoyed this card. I had fun making it. The die is Poppy Moments and I intend to give it a good work out. I think I will try making some yellow and orange poppies next either to use on a card or as an embellishment on a bag or box. I think this die set would be fabulous to make scrapbooking embellishments especially if you are doing a page about the 75th anniversary of VE day.

A Waterfall of Hearts – Detailed Hearts Die

This card features of a waterfall of hearts. This is all one die that creates this marvelous hearts image.

A Waterfall of Hearts - Detailed Hearts Die
A Waterfall of Hearts – Detailed Hearts Die

I love the contrast between Real Red and Whisper White. It is so striking. The whisper white background is embossed with the Scripty embossing folder. It just adds a little interest to the card.

As I said the die that creates this image is the Detailed Hearts Die. I’ve used this die once before on a card. The first time I tried to stick the die cut with tombow glue and of course the glue ozzed everywhere and I was sticky and the card was sticky. Not a great success I am sure you would agree. The next time I used adhesive sheet and bingo!! It works!! No mess, no residual glue everywhere. Unfortunately Stampin’ Up! don’t sell adhesive sheet as yet but it coming in the new catalogue. Happy dance time for me.

More Poppies -Peaceful Poppies – Stampin’ Up!

Yes that is right, more poppies to share with you. I am truly in love with this suite of products and will be so sad to see the designer series paper retire in a few weeks time. The stamp sets and dies from the suite are continuing, much to my relief.

More Poppies -Peaceful Poppies - Stampin' Up!
More Poppies -Peaceful Poppies – Stampin’ Up!

As I said, I love this paper. I know that I shouldn’t really buy a second pack as it will retire before I can make more projects to share with you but I want to have it so I don’t lose it. I am sure those paper hoarders among you, know what I mean.

This card is super simple to make. I love the bright vibrancy of the poppies. I debated for a while where to add a sentiment but I didn’t want to cover the images so I went with a small one in the bottom right hand corner that says many thanks. This is from the Itty Bitty Greetings set. This is a great set as it has a ton of different greetings for all occasion of cards. I find myself using it time and time again.

Measurements

  • A6 Old Olive Cardbase. This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half.
  • Blackberry Bliss – 14.35m x 10cm
  • Peaceful Poppies DSP – 13.85cm x 9.5cm

What are your favourite flowers? I love all flowers. They are so beautiful, a vision of perfection. My favourite flower though is the tulip and I am glad to say the tulip stamp set and accompanying punch are carrying over to the new catalogue.

I hope you are all keeping safe and well. I am trying my best though it is not easy at times. It has made me realise how much we value our freedom and how precious it is. Also, how lucky we are to have had that freedom and all that we still have.

Lovely Lipstick Floral Thank You Card – Stampin’ Up!

Spring has definitely sprung and I have a thank you card to share with you today in the bright Lovely Lipstick pink. Quite a few of the products used in this card are retiring on the 2nd of June. I want to use up my stocks so that they don’t sit in my stash once I buy all the new goodies from the new catalogue.

Lovely Lipstick Floral Thank You Card - Stampin' Up!
Lovely Lipstick Floral Thank You Card – Stampin’ Up!

This card uses Lovely Lipstick (Pink) and Call Me Clover (Green). They are part of the 2018 – 2020 in-colours which also include Blueberry Bushel, Grapefruit Grove and Pineapple Punch. These colours are sadly retiring on 2nd June. I want to make as much use of them as I can before we wave goodbye to them.

Flowers and nature make me happy. I am selfish happily to hear that B&Q are opening again in Lincoln. I want to buy some busy lizzies and of course my vegetable plants. Each year we grow lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and lots of herbs.

I’ve stamped here using the Stampin’ Write markers rather than the ink pads. This allows me to use more than one colour on each stamp. It is an old technique but a good one.

Measurements

  • Lovely Lipstick A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

I’ve used the Happiness Blooms enamel dots to give some dimension to the card on the little dots on the plants. I want to use up my enamel dots as they are retiring too with the 2018-2020 in-colours.

Beautiful Daisies – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial

I have this beautiful daisies card to share with you today. I do love daisies, they are such bright and cheerful flowers. Do you like daisies? My grandmother always had a yellow daisy bush in her garden and I still love them.

Beautiful Daisies - Stampin' Up! Card Tutorial
Beautiful Daisies – Stampin’ Up! Card Tutorial

The colours used here are Mango Melody, Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight. They are from different Stampin’ Up! colour families but they go well together. They make a great sunny and happy card. I’ve embossed the background with the Country Floral embossing folder to give added interest.

measurements

  • Mango Melody A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Whisper White – 14.35cm x 10cm

I used this stamp set, Daisy Lane, twice last year and never again. I don’t know why, as it is such a nice set. I’ve stamped it in the corresponding ink to the cardstock for a tone on tone effect. The gold faceted gems give the centres that touch of bling.

Cherry Blossom – Parisian Blossom Card

I have ultra simple card to share with you today. The inspiration for this card came from the all the Cherry Blossom that has been out in the last few weeks here in Lincoln. It has been everywhere!! I loved seeing it on my weekly trips to the supermarket. It was the highlight of the trip out.

Cherry Blossom - Parisian Blossom Card
Cherry Blossom – Parisian Blossom Card

The base colour here is Bermuda Bay, one of my all time favourites. Pool Party is the colour in the Parisian Blooms Designer Series Paper (DSP) and I think it goes perfectly with the Bermuda Bay. This DSP has champagne foiling which is so pretty.

I’ve tried to use up my scraps and retiring products so I can make the best use of them before they go. I don’t want them to just sit in my stash and not to see the light of day again. The Bermuda Bay ribbon is one of these items alongside the DSP.

Perennial Birthday is the stamp set here and it is retiring!! I thought it would but I was hoping it wouldn’t. I love it for this bold Happy Birthday sentiment. If there are any sets retiring that you love and don’t have then get them now before they go forever.

measurements

  • Bermuda Bay A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half then folded in half

Animal Outing – Kangaroo Card – Stampin’ Up!

This fun card features the Animal Outing stamp set. I am sad to say that this set and the matching dies are retiring on 2nd June 2020. This is the first time I’ve used this set and I am so glad I have before it retires.

Animal Outing - Kangaroo Card - Stampin' Up!
Animal Outing – Kangaroo Card – Stampin’ Up!

As you may know, my mother’s family are South African. Some of the family though have left SA to go to Australia. This card reminds me of them as well as a dear school friend who is living in Sydney. I’ve coloured the image in using the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers as well as the colour lifter. It turned out well I think.

I am trying to use up my stock before it retires. The green here is Call me Clover and the pink is Lovely Lipstick. These are both part of the outgoing 2018 -2020 in colours. If you love these as much as I do them I would urge you to stock up on supplies now.

Up in the Clouds – Stampin’ Up! – Card Tutorial

Sometimes I think, wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to fly, to be up in the clouds and free from all the worries down on earth. It is nice thought but not really possible. I made a card with hot air balloon instead to compensate. I hope you like it.

Up in the Clouds - Stampin' Up! - Card Tutorial
Up in the Clouds – Stampin’ Up! – Card Tutorial

The stamp set here is called Above the Clouds and has the matching hot air balloon punch. Unfortunately, this set is retiring on 2nd June 2020. If you like it then please get it now before it sells out. You can view the full retirement offering on in my shop.

I love all the blues in this card. They are Night of Navy and Seaside Spray. Thankfully we are losing neither this year. I have used the Stampin’ Blends to colour everything in. You may notice the blends are on the retirement list but don’t worry they aren’t going away. Instead of selling them singularly we are only going to sell the duo pack. This means you can get perfect shading everytime.

measurements

  • Night of Navy A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half
  • Seaside Spray – 14.35cm x 10cm

The retirement list went live on 22nd April. As always I am excited to see the new catalogue but sad to see some old favourites retiring. I’ve marked out all my retired items in my catalogue and will be pulling them from my shelves to make space for new goodies.
