What is the Difference Between Heat and Dry Embossing? – Christmas Greenery – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK.

Embossing is a wonderful way to add texture, depth, and a professional finish to your handmade cards. In today’s project, I’ll be showing you both heat embossing and dry embossing, using the beautiful Traditions of Christmas Suite from Stampin’ Up!

Dry Embossing

For the background, I’ve used the Peaceful Greenery Embossing Folder, which creates a delicate foliage frame around the central design. This technique is known as dry embossing. It’s achieved by running cardstock through an embossing folder with your die-cutting machine. The result is a raised (embossed) texture that instantly adds interest and a touch of elegance to any card design.

Heat embossing

For the focal image, I’ve used the Christmas Greenery stamp set and gold heat embossed the design. Heat embossing involves stamping your image with a sticky embossing ink, sprinkling on embossing powder, and then using a heat tool to melt the powder. The result is a beautiful, shiny, and raised effect that really stands out.

watercolouring

Once the image was heat embossed, I coloured it using Stampin’ Up! ink pads and Water Painters. You need to use Fluid 100 watercolour paper. Basic White cardstock cannot cope with water. The colours are Real Red and Garden Green, perfect for traditional festive florals. The sentiments—“Merry Christmas” and “Season’s Greetings”—are from the Greetings For You Ephemera Pack, which coordinates perfectly with this suite.

To finish off, I added some sparkle using the Traditional Sparkling Sequins, also from the Traditions of Christmas Suite. These sequins bring just the right amount of shimmer to the finished cards, catching the light beautifully.

Both embossing techniques complement each other perfectly—dry embossing adds texture and structure, while heat embossing brings shine and definition. Together, they create elegant and festive cards that are sure to impress anyone this Christmas season.

Revisiting Watercolour Pencils – Perfect for Easy Colouring

Revisiting Watercolour Pencils – Perfect for Easy Colouring – Framed Scenes – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK

Sometimes the simplest tools give the most beautiful results, and today I’m sharing two cards that revisit a classic favourite—watercolour pencils. They’re perfect for easy colouring and give a soft, artistic look to your stamped images.

For these projects, I used the Framed Scenes stamp set with Fluid 100 watercolour paper as my base. The textured watercolour paper really makes a difference when blending, helping the colours move smoothly while keeping that lovely hand-painted effect.

Creating the Focal Images

Each card features one of the detailed scenic images from the Framed Scenes set. I stamped the designs with Stazon onto the Fluid 100 paper and then reached for both Watercolour Pencil Assortment 1 and 2 to add colour.

To blend the pencils, I used a Water Painter, which instantly transforms the pencil strokes into soft watercolour washes. I love how versatile this method is—you can keep things light and sketchy or layer up for bolder, richer colour.

On one card, I coloured the peaceful stone bridge scene, and on the other, the charming treehouse. Both images are framed beautifully with a faux gold frame for extra shine and impact.

Simple Sentiments, Big Impact

I kept the sentiments simple—“thinking of you” and “hello”—so the detailed watercoloured images remain the star of the show. Sometimes less is more, especially when your focal image is this pretty.

Why Try Watercolour Pencils Again?

If it’s been a while since you’ve used your watercolour pencils, I’d really encourage you to bring them back out. They’re:

  • Easy to use, even for beginners.
  • Portable and mess-free.
  • Perfect for creating a quick watercoloured look without needing lots of supplies.

They’re also ideal for stamped images with fine detail, like those in the Framed Scenes set, because you can add colour exactly where you want it before blending.

Quick and Simple Elegant Card – Extraordinary Flora

Quick and Simple Elegant Card – Extraordinary Flora – Spotlight on Nature – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – UK

Quick and Simple Elegant Card – Extraordinary Flora – Spotlight on Nature – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – UK

If you’re short on time but still want to make something stylish and heartfelt, this project might be just what you’re looking for. Today’s card showcases the Extraordinary Flora stamp, die, and washi tape set—an absolute dream for anyone who loves floral crafting without the fuss of colouring.

Washi Tape Magic

The stunning florals on this card are all from the coordinating Extraordinary Flora washi tape. I cut a section of the washi tape that aligns with the large matching die, adhered it to Basic White cardstock for extra stability, and then die cut it using the coordinating die. One pass through your die-cutting machine gives you a full bouquet of beautiful flowers and foliage, ready to arrange.

Elegant Details with Gold and Texture

To create a focal point, I used one of the gold decorative circles from the Spotlight on Nature die set. This adds just the right amount of shine and elevates the look of the card without overwhelming the florals.

The background is embossed using the Exposed Brick embossing folder, which adds subtle but interesting texture. It gives the card a grounded, tactile feel while still keeping it clean and sophisticated.

A Finishing Touch

The sentiment “All the Best” comes from the Saying Something ephemera pack, making it quick and easy to add a polished, professional greeting to your project. A few coordinating pearls finish the look perfectly and add a little extra shine.

This design is ideal for many occasions—whether you’re wishing someone luck, celebrating a milestone, or just sending a warm hello.

Birthday Sunshine Card – Simple Design – Paper Tags Bundle – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK

Today I’m sharing a bright and joyful card that’s perfect for sending birthday cheer! This handmade design features the Paper Hugs stamp and die bundle from Stampin’ Up!, and it’s all about clean layers, fun textures, and happy vibes.

Birthday Sunshine Card - Simple Design - Paper Tags Bundle - Crafting with Ashee - Independent Stampin' Up! Demo - Lincoln UK
Birthday Sunshine Card – Simple Design – Paper Tags Bundle – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK

What makes this card extra special? It showcases three of the five new Stampin’ Up! colours:

  • Darling Duckling – a sunny, rich yellow that brings instant warmth
  • Cloud Cover – a soft, versatile grey-blue that pairs beautifully with…
  • Secret Sea – a deeper, moody blue that adds a grounding contrast

I started with an embossed white panel for subtle texture, layered it over a Secret Sea card base, and then added two large angled tags in Cloud Cover and Secret Sea for visual interest. The standout element is the stamped sentiment tag in Darling Duckling, reading “May your day be filled with sunshine & laughter” – a lovely, heartfelt birthday message.

A touch of iridescent ribbon, a few scattered embellishments, and some cute die-cut hearts finish it all off. This design is simple, but the layered elements and pop of colour make it feel thoughtful and unique.

I love floral cards. This is the Painted Lavender bundle. It evokes the lavender fields of Provence. Unfortunately, I have bad hay fever, so I must admire it from afar. The background felt sparse, so I used the Forever Plaid embossing folder to add texture and interest without detracting from the focal image.

Instead of stamping a sentiment I used one from the Saying Something ephemera pack. You don’t have to handstamp everything on the card, it gives added interest to mix and match, do you agree?

I love the simplicity of this Valentine’s card. The cardstock is Melon Mambo, but the colour does not show up very well on camera. Heat embossing is a good way to get text to pop on coloured cardstock. The stamping and dies are from the Hearts of Elegance bundle. This is a current online exclusive. I’ve used the Cute Crochet 3D embossing folder to give interest in the background.

I’ve always loved the combination of blue and red. Do you like it? The colours here are Balmy Blue, Azure Afternoon and Poppy Parade. I’ve coloured the little house to look like a gingerbread house. The image is from the Humble Home stamp and punch bundle. I love punches. The colouring was done using the Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers. I love them, they are easy to use and produce great results.

I love paper that has a variety of individual images with a “white space” around them. They are perfect for fussy cutting. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of fussy cutting but it does have its place. It is a great skill to master as it allows you to create a ton of die cuts from one piece of paper. Luckily here the matching Reindeer Fun dies will cut out some of the images in the Reindeer Days paper. As you can see here, I’ve used paper to create this card.
