Beautiful Gallery Paper = Quick and Easy Cards – Simply Said – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK

If you’ve ever needed a thoughtful card in a hurry but still wanted it to look like a masterpiece, let me introduce you to a paper collection that’s about to become your best friend — Beautiful Gallery from Stampin’ Up!

The card I’m sharing today was made with just one sheet of patterned paper from this gorgeous collection. That’s right — no stamping, no blending, no complicated techniques — just the paper doing all the talking.

This soft and elegant black-and-white scene feels like a charcoal sketch straight out of an artist’s notebook. I simply trimmed the paper to size, layered it on black cardstock for contrast, then mounted it onto a neutral base. The sentiment, “Thinking of You,” from the Simply Said stamp set is all it needed to complete the look.

Measurements

  • Basic Beige Cardstock – A6 Card Base – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half.
  • Basic White Cardstock – 14.35cm X 10cm.

Ink Blending Tips for a Seamless Background

I used ink blending for this card to create a soft, seamless background. Here’s my top tip:
Take your time and use a light hand. It’s easier to build up the colour gradually than to remove it if it gets too dark.

I typically use small blending brushes for precision, but any size works—just layer the colour until you achieve the look you want.

Beautiful Butterflies – How I Created a Stunning Art Journal Page. – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK

There’s something so magical about butterflies, and I couldn’t resist bringing that magic to my art journal! Today, I’m sharing how I created this vibrant butterfly-themed page using the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

The Inspiration

Butterflies symbolise transformation, hope, and beauty, making them a perfect subject for an uplifting and celebratory art journal page. I wanted a bright, airy background with bold butterfly images that pop off the page.

Materials Used:

  • Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Elements of Text Stamp Set (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper
  • Stampin’ Up! Ink Pads (used as watercolour paint)
  • Blending brushes
  • Black Stazon Ink
  • White gel pen
  • Matching dies from the Beautiful Butterflies set

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Creating the Background I started with a piece of Fluid 100 watercolour paper and used Stampin’ Up! ink pads as my watercolour paint to create a dreamy sky effect. A wet-on-wet technique helped blend the colours seamlessly. Once dry, I added some subtle script stamping from the Elements of Text set to give it a vintage touch.
  2. Stamping and Colouring the Butterflies The butterflies were stamped on Fluid 100 watercolour paper using black Stazon ink. I then coloured them using a watercolour technique with Stampin’ Up! ink pads, creating a gradient of yellow and orange tones for a glowing effect. A touch of white gel pen highlights added extra dimension.
  3. Die Cutting and Arranging After the butterflies were coloured, I die-cut them using the matching dies from the Beautiful Butterflies set and arranged them on my page.
  4. Adding Details To frame the composition, I hand-doodled a whimsical border with a fine-tip black pen and added a few cross marks for a sketchy effect.
  5. Final Touch – The Sentiment I stamped “Time to Celebrate” from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set in black ink to complete the page with an uplifting message.

Final Thoughts

This art journal page turned out exactly how I envisioned—full of life, movement, and inspiration! Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or a beginner, this project is a fun way to experiment with colour and texture.

I’d love to see your butterfly-themed creations! Share your work in the comments or tag me on social media using #craftingwithashee.

As we near the end of the annual catalogue I go through my stamp shelves and see what stamps I’ve used and which have hardly seen ink. The Charming Duck Pond bundle is one which I’ve only used a couple of times.

I wanted to use it again before it perhaps retires. This card is CASED from the annual catalogue. What is casing you may ask. Case means to copy and share everything. There is nothing wrong with casing an idea from the catalogue but do give credit to your source idea.

Tips

I do have a few tips to share. Firstly remove the backing to the foam strips before you apply. This makes the strips more malleable and easy to shape. Secondly, ensure you enclose your shaker window with foam strips and have no gaps. Thirdly once you have closed up your shaker give the adhesive a good press with your bone folder to ensure good adhesion.
