Simply Leaves – Introducing a Useful New Punch – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – Lincoln UK.

If you love creating cards with a colourful autumnal feel, I think you’re going to love the new Simply Leaves stamp set and matching punch. It’s one of those combinations that makes creating beautiful cards quick and easy, while still giving you plenty of scope to experiment.

For today’s project, I’ve created two cards using the Simply Leaves stamp set, its coordinating punch and the gorgeous Painted Patterns Regal Designer Series Paper. I’ve used rich autumnal colours to create cards that feel warm, cheerful and perfect for sending a little thought to someone special.

Introducing the Simply Leaves Stamp Set and Punch

The Simply Leaves stamp set is a really useful addition to your stamping collection. I particularly love that the leaves can be stamped in different colours and then punched out, making it incredibly easy to create a cluster of colourful leaves for your cards.

The coordinating punch makes creating the leaves even simpler. There’s no need to spend ages lining up dies and running them through your die-cutting machine – just stamp, punch and you’re ready to go.

I can see this becoming one of those products that gets used time and time again, not just for autumn cards but throughout the year.

Creating an Autumnal Colour Palette

For these cards, I wanted to create a warm and traditional autumnal colour combination.

I used Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Cajun Craze for the leaves. Together, these colours create a lovely mix of deep red, orange, golden yellow and warm terracotta.

The card bases are Cherry Cobbler and Cajun Craze, which coordinate beautifully with the leaves and the patterned paper.

I think using a limited colour palette like this is a great way to make a card look coordinated without having to overthink the colour choices.

Painted Patterns Designer Series Paper

For the background, I’ve used the Painted Patterns Regal Designer Series Paper. The dot pattern adds plenty of interest without competing with the stamped leaves.

I particularly like using patterned paper as a large background layer because it gives you a quick and easy way to create a card that looks detailed and finished.

The rich red and orange tones in the paper work beautifully with the autumnal leaves, while the simple pattern allows the stamped images and sentiment to remain the main focus.

You’re on My Mind

The sentiment on both cards is “You’re on My Mind.”

I think this is such a lovely sentiment to have in your card-making collection. It’s perfect for so many occasions when you simply want someone to know that you’re thinking of them.

Sometimes a card doesn’t need a specific occasion. A simple “You’re on My Mind” can be the perfect reason to send a handmade card.

Two Cards, One Simple Design

Although these two cards use the same basic design, changing the colours and arrangement of the leaves gives each card its own personality.

The first card uses Cherry Cobbler as the main colour, creating a rich, deep autumnal look. The second card features Cajun Craze, giving it a slightly warmer and more earthy feel.

This is one of my favourite ways to make multiple cards. Start with one design that you know works, then change the colour combination or placement of your elements to create another version.

It’s a great way to get more cards made without having to come up with a completely new design every time.

Why I Love the Simply Leaves Punch

There are certain crafting tools that you know are going to be useful almost immediately, and I think the Simply Leaves Punch is one of them.

Being able to stamp your leaves and punch them out quickly makes it really easy to create multiple elements for a card. You could create a simple trio of leaves, build a larger cluster or even punch several leaves at once and keep them ready for future projects.

The leaves could also be used on scrapbook pages, gift packaging, tags and other paper crafting projects, making this a really versatile addition to your craft room.

A Simple Card Design That’s Easy to Recreate

One of the things I love about these cards is that they look more complicated than they actually are.

The combination of patterned paper, punched leaves and a simple sentiment does most of the work for you. Add a few embellishments for a little extra sparkle and you have a finished card that is perfect for sending to someone special.

If you’re new to stamping or simply looking for an easy card design, this would be a great project to try.

And if you already have the Simply Leaves stamp set and punch, why not experiment with your own colour combinations? You could try softer colours for a spring-inspired card, fresh greens for a botanical look or even blues and purples for something completely different.

Final Thoughts

I’m really enjoying using the Simply Leaves stamp set and matching punch, and I think this is going to be a particularly useful combination for creating quick and easy handmade cards.

The punch makes creating the leaves so straightforward, while the stamp set gives you plenty of opportunities to experiment with colour and layout.

These autumnal cards are a great example of how you can combine a simple stamped image with beautiful Designer Series Paper to create an eye-catching card without needing lots of complicated techniques.
