Candy Canes – How to Heat Emboss a Background – Christmas to Remember – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in Lincoln UK

Gosh, I’m so pleased with how this turned out. I wanted to make this card ever since I first saw the Candy Canes stamp set in the catalogue. The contrast between the white heat embossing and the red background is so striking.

Heat embossing is very easy to do but always feels like magic to me. This dull powder becomes glossy and beautiful as it melts under the heat tool. To make this card I used a larger panel than I needed of real red so that I could cut it down to get or of any imperfections around the edges. Please do watch the video and try it yourself. I love anything that has a mixed-media vibe to it. So much fun to play with colours, different textures and techniques. This background started off as a plain piece of basic white cardstock, can you believe it?

I’ve combined the embossed heat resist technique and blending brushes. It creates this gorgeous card. The butterflies are all one stamp set; Butterfly Brilliance.

How cute are these? Oh my, if the snails in my garden were this cute I would invite them all to stay. One of these snails are fussy cut and one is cut with the dies, both from the designer series paper (DSP). I love the cute little toadstools. These are cut out of Real Red cardstock and then I added some white to give them this cute look.

The little heart between the two snails just as that lovely extra cute effect. The strip of Real Red is actually ribbon and gives these two snails somewhere to sit rather just floating around.

The Snail Mail suite of products in the min catalogue is so cute. The main selling point for me was that the dies not only cut out the matching stamp set but also these dinky snails from the designer series paper (DSP). My favourite thing in the whole collection, though is this cute little envelope with the heart. It was cut with the matching dies, using up scraps of cardstock.

Keeping it Simple – Primary Colours Thank You Card – Pretty Parasol- Independent Stampin’ Up Demonstrator based in Lincoln UK.

I love this idea of these balloon carrying this pretty parasol off into the wind. I’ve used only primary colours. They are Real Red, Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight. These colours all work well together and therefore don’t clash but really pop against the white.

I used a white gel pen on the parasol to give it some highlights with the dots. This makes the whole piece pop even more. It is a very easy and simple card to make using up scraps which is always a good thing.

Make a Magnetic Closure Christmas Gift Box

Make a Magnetic Closure Christmas Gift Box – Brightly Gleaming – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in Lincoln UK.

I’ve used the Brightly Gleaming designer series paper (DSP) here to make these cute little gift boxes. I think the copper foiling really pops against both the Real Red and Melon Mambo pink. These boxes were both made using scraps of DSP from making another gift box which I will feature shortly on this blog.

I used small neodymium earth magnets that I got online for the magnetic closure. I covered both with some DSP so that the magnets were not so strong. The stamp set is Wrapped in Christmas and has some matching dies as well. This sentiment also matches the 1 1/2″ circle punch perfectly as well. I love punches and tend to use them rather than dies whenever I can.

How to Make a Holly Die Cut Card – Stampin’ Up!

How to Make a Holly Die Cut Card. Sweetest Time stamp set and Sweetest Border Dies. Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in Lincoln UK.

This is a companion card to the candy cane card I shared on here a couple of days ago. They both use the Sweetest Border Dies and matching stamp set. This is also a card we made recently in Card Club. You can find more details about Card Club that is held virtually in my Facebook Group each month here.

The two colours here are Shaded Spruce and Real Red. They really work well together and pop so well against the Whisper White. The holly die can be delicate so just a few seconds to tease out the little pieces to make this wonderful die cut element.I’ve used the red gems from the Wonderful Gems set to look like holly berries and they really give this piece the lift it needs.

Who Doesn’t Love Candy Canes – Card Share – Sweetest Time – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in Lincoln UK.

This is another card we did in Card Club. Card Club is held in my Facebook Group once a month. You can find all the details here. As I’m not allowed, as per Stampin’ Up! rules to included stamped images as part of the kit, these cards are based more on die cuts than stamps.

The dies I’ve used here are the Sweetest Border dies. It cuts these lovely border images. I’ve done a second companion card using another die from the same set. It should be up in a few days time. The real red against the whisper white makes everything pop and the rhinestones just add that lovely touch of bling.

How to Make a Poinsettia Die Cut Card – Christmas Card – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in Lincoln UK.

I love the Peony petals stamp set and matching dies so much. They are simply amazing. This card only uses stamping for the sentiment and the dies really do sing loud here. This is a card we made in a recent card club. All the details can be found here. I wanted to share this card with you as we all had such fun making it.

The dies not only cut out the shape but also emboss some texture to each leaf. The same dies also cut out the stamped images. They are just so versatile. I’ve inked the edges of all the foliage and it makes such a difference. It just gives everything depth, texture and interest. I used a simple sponge and the matching ink pads.

Do you love Red Poinsettias? Alcohol Markers – SU!

Do you love Red Poinsettias? Stampin’ Blend Alcohol Markers – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator based in Lincoln UK.

I’m so impressed with how this card turned out. I love the red poinsettias. They are gorgeous. We always have one each year. My mother has actually managed to keep one a live for a few years now and each year the leaves turn red in the winter.

The poinsettia is coloured in using the Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers. I actually used both Cherry Cobbler and Real red, graduating from lightest to darkest to get all the shading I wanted. I did the same with the leave using both Mossy Meadow and Old Olive. This I felt gave better depth and definition to the images. I layered up 3 different sizes of poinsettia leaves to get the 3D effect that you see here.
