How to Mask an Area of a Card – Ink Blending – Merriest Moments – Christmas Card – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demo – UK

The photo doesn’t do this card justice. It is difficult to photograph the variations and depth the ink blending gives this card.

In this Focus Friday project, I’m looking at using masking paper to create an image on the card. Here I’ve used it to make this perfect white circle surrounded by the inked background. I’ve used the layering circle dies to cut the circle out of masking paper. You can re-use this mask so keep the backing paper safe.

This is a very simple design. I’ve cut out 3 tags using the Celebration Tag Dies and Tailored Tag Dies. They are layered up so the holes on the tag match but at different angles. An easy design but very effective.

This is a card for people who like all things that sparkle and shine. The Lights Aglow Designer Series Paper (DSP) has gold foiling. I’ve picked this up in the gold glimmer paper and heat embossed sentiment. This gives the card some continuity.

This is very simple card to make. You can make a quite a few in a short space of time. Great card to get the kids involved as well. These card fit perfectly in the little card box we made in the last post. Together they are great gift.

This is Focus Friday card. During this month we are looking at different masking techniques. You may wonder where I’ve used this technique in the card above. It was for the sentiment. The original sentiment read “Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year”. I only wanted Merry Christmas and I wanted the word Christmas to below Merry. I masked off parts of the sentiment to achieve this. See the video below to find out how.

Normally, I’m not a fan of gnomes but I’ve fallen in love with this set. I think it’s because it’s perfect for colouring and I love to colour. These cuties are coloured using the Stampin’ Blend Alcohol markers.

The design is very simple with 3 little rectangles that are matted on a darker colour of the same design. Each little gnome has a little area of this own. The colours of the papers above are Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. Below you can see my other version which is Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky. Which do you prefer?

I love this stamp set. The photo doesn’t do this photo justice. When I saw this set in the catalogue I just had to have it. These little mice are just the cutest. I so enjoyed colouring them with the Stmapin’ Blend Alcohol markers. When I’m colouring I relax and totally lose track of time.

Currently, I’m trying to do more than one version of each card I make. Today is no exception. Above is very traditional and below is the Tahitian Tide / Orchid Oasis one. I think I prefer the traditional Real Red and Shaded Spruce but it is a close run contest.

Above is a very traditional version of this card. The colours are Real Red and Shaded Spruce. I’ve added a touch of bling with the gold glimmer paper. The matching dies not only cut out the baubles but also an outline of each bauble which you can use to frame each one. Very cool.

Below is what I call my non-traditional version. The colours are Tahitian Tide (blue) and Polished Pink. I love both but which do you like best? It’s amazing how just changing the colours you use, can change the whole look of a card.

I love how this sentiment sounds when said fast. Yes, I know I’m weird. Silly things make me smile. The Jingle Jingle Jingle stamp set is a great set. It’s a two step stamp set with various sentiments. You can stamp the outline or the inner bit or both together. You could also stamp the outline and colour in using your favourite colouring medium.

How to get a Bright White Effect on Cards – Heat Embossing – Focus Friday – Crafting with Ashee – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator – Lincoln UK

Such a simple but effective Christmas Card. During the month of October, we have been focusing on heat embossing. Today I showed how effective it is to white heat emboss on coloured cardstock. It is the best way to achieve this bright white effect. Even if you use a white pigment ink you won’t get this bright white effect.
