Simple Christmas Card – Feels Like Frost DSP

I have a super simple Christmas card to share with you today. The Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper (DSP) is stunning. I didn’t feel it needed much to turn it into a card and this is what I have created.

Simple Christmas Card - Feels Like Frost DSP
Simple Christmas Card – Feels Like Frost DSP

I really wanted the DSP to do the “talking” on this card and therefore have only added a simple sentiment and some Coastal Cabana rhinestones for bling. The Feels Like Frost DSP is very versatile. One side has the lovely wintery scenes while the reverse has white and silver foil elements for real Christmas glamour.

measurements

  • Thick Whisper White A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half.
  • Feels Like Frost DSP – 14.35cm x 10cm

I love quick and easy cards like this as they can be made by anyone. Even if you are busy you can still give that handmade card that means to much to people.

Oversized Merry Christmas Tag – Stampin’ Up!

I have this lovely oversized Merry Christmas tag to share with you today. This tag can double as a card and tag as there is lots of space on the back to write your message. It is big and bold and yet has a very vintage feel to it.

Oversized Merry Christmas Tag - Stampin' Up!
Oversized Merry Christmas Tag – Stampin’ Up!

The colours in this tag are the Real Red and Garden Green. They have been my number one Christmas colours for a number of years. The background colour is not white but very vanilla which gives a softer more shabby chic feel to the tag.

I have just stamped the tab but you could have heat embossed this with clear embossing powder to give a glossy finish. You could even use silver or gold embossing powder for a more metallic bling effect.

Measurements

  • Garden Green – 4 1/4″ X 5 3/4″
  • Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper (DSP) – 4″ X 5 1/2″

Although you can’ see I have stamped the back of the tag with “To & From” from the Memories of Home stamp set. I’ve used both real red cotton ribbon and very vanilla lace trim which adds to the shabby chic feel of the tag.

Card Storage Box – Made from Chipboard

I have a card storage box to share with you today. This storage box is extra sturdy as it is made from chipboard as opposed to cardstock. This means it will last longer and can hold lots more. This box is also perfect to store your stickers, embossing folders and if you widen it even your dies!!!

Card Storage Box - Made from Chipboard
Card Storage Box – Made from Chipboard

The box is held together with 1-inch binding strips of cardstock. They act as bias binding, holding all the pieces together. I have put strips on the inside and outside of the box for extra stability. The chipboard is black so doesn’t need to be wrapped or covered in additional cardstock. I purchased the chipboard online.

The box is decorated using the Toile and Tidings Designer Series Paper. This paper is real red on one side and garden green on the other. The background colour is actually Very Vanilla and not Whisper White. This gives the paper a great vintage feel

My initial sample had slope sides above but when I filmed the video I forgot to angle my sides and so they ended up straight. Which do you prefer? let me know in the comments below.

I am really enjoying making projects with chipboard and have many more ideas in the pipeline. Sometimes I think we can get bored of cardmaking. It is good to expand our creativeness and take ourselves out of our comfort zone.

Other Projects

The video is quite long but this project does take longer to make than a card. Some parts of the video have been sped up but you can slow them down again on YouTube if you want to see it in real-time. The supply list is below as always.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you liked this project as much as I enjoyed making it. Until next time Enjoy Being Creative!!

Inlaid Punch Technique – Christmas Card Tutorial

I have a very simple but very effective technique to share with you today. I’ve used the technique of inlaid die cutting but with a punch instead. Wrapped in Plaid must be my most used Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the whole catalogue. I love it!! I’ve used scraps here to make this great card.

Inlaid Punch Technique - Wrapped in Plaid Christmas Card - Stampin' Up!
Inlaid Punch Technique – Wrapped in Plaid Christmas Card – Stampin’ Up!

The cherry cobbler and shaded spruce are very traditional Christmas Colours. The white of the trees really makes them pop on this card. I should warn you, that you can not punch out the trees and use the reverse of the image as these trees are not symmetrical. You will need to punch the trees again from scrap cardstock. I then used liquid glue to inlay the trees into the punched “holes”. Don’t through out the first punched trees as you can use them on another card, that I will link below.

measurements

  • Thick Whisper White A6 Cardbase – This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Wrapped in Plaid DSP – 14.35cm x 10cm

I love simple and easy projects such as this as time can be at a premium and it’s great to still be able to give that a handmade card.

Mini Chocolate Wrapped Gift – Stampin’ Up!

I have this yummy mini chocolate wrapped gift to share with you today. This is a very simple project but I would be very pleased if I were to receive it.

Mini Chocolate Wrapped Gift - Stampin' Up!
Mini Chocolate Wrapped Gift – Stampin’ Up!

I bought a little pack of 5 chocolate bars from the supermarket with the intention of using them in a project and this is what I came up with. I have used the Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP) here to wrap each chocolate bar individually. The ribbon is in the gorgeous classic weave ribbon that has “Merry Christmas” in two different fonts. I’ve heat embossed the sentiment to match it.

Measurements

  • Night Before Christmas DSP – This DSP is 6″ x 6″. I’ve used the full width of the paper and cut the other side to 11cm

I think a gift such as this would be perfect for a little pressie to work colleagues or neighbours. It looks beautiful but is very easy to make. It is also a great way to use up scraps of DSP which is always good.

Birds of A Feather – Magnetic Bookmark

I have a great little project to share with you today. This is a magnetic bookmark using the fun and cheerful Birds of a Feather stamp set from Stampin’ Up!. If you haven’t seen this stamp set, you really must take a peek. It is fun without being tacky or rude.

Birds of A Feather - Magnetic Bookmark
Birds of A Feather – Magnetic Bookmark

I love this little chick. He is cute and dinky. I’ve coloured him in using the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. It’s really simple colouring to give a great effect. I’ve stamped the chick on whisper white and then fussy cut him out so that you won’t see any of the bleed-through from the markers. I used a small pair of magnetic sheets that I got online for the magnetic closure.

If you know anyone like me who is in love with books, then this would be a great little stocking stuffer. You could also add it as an extra handmade surprise if you are giving them a special book.

I’ve done two versions of this bookmark, one with rounded edge and one without. Which do you like best? Let me know below.

measurements

  • Whisper White Cardstock – 6″ x 2″, scored at 3″ on the 6″ side.

Dashing Deer Christmas Card Tutorial

Here is another simple card featuring a cute dashing deer. The Dashing Deer and Detailed Deer dies are in the main catalogue. I love these deer which are beautifully intricate and real stars.

Dashing Deer Christmas Card Tutorial

I have used “Very Vanilla” cardstock as the background colour as it felt less harsh than whisper white against the crumb cake of the deer. The real red flowers give the whole card a pop of colour.

Measurements

  • Real Red A6 Cardbase – (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock – 14.35cm x 10cm

Back home in South Africa, I love seeing the antelope and buck in the game reserves. My favourite is the Impala. They are so graceful as they run across the Veldt. It is truly a beautiful thing to behold.

Little Critters, Penguin & Deer – Curvy Keepsake Box

I love these little critters that have been made from the curvy keepsake box. These are the perfect size for Christmas decorations to hang on the tree. They are also great for a little after-dinner chocolate.

Little Critters, Penguin & Deer - Curvy Keepsake Box
Little Critters, Penguin & Deer – Curvy Keepsake Box

I think these are just beyond cute. When the large curvy keepsake box was in the catalogue I made these with my London card club group and they were a hit. One lady in a primary school teacher and made cut out these for her pupils to make. They are easy to put together as they require no glue. You cut out the shape once with the die and then just fold it closed. Kids can decorate them however they wish.

I love the idea of making little critters with these boxes. You could equally make Father Christmas or Elves from these boxes. You are only limited by your imagination. I have used various punches to create eyes, feet and such like here.
