I have this sunny Birthday Card to share with you today. This card features a lovely sunflower from the Painted Harvest stamp set to brighten up any day. The card is simple and easy to make and really brings up back to the basics of cardmaking, ink, paper and stamps.

I love sunflowers. They are stunning flowers. I was watching the Tour de France earlier this year and remember seeing the amazing fields of sunflowers in parts of France. They are truly a spectacle to behold.

I normally don’t enjoy fussy cutting as I don’t have the patience for it but I seem to be making quite a few cards that require fussy cutting recently. Not sure why though. The sunflower on this card is fussy cut and it is not as hard as I thought it would be. The image is very forgiving as it has such a sketchy design.

measurements

  • Early Espresso Cardbase – A6 – (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Whisper White Cardstock – 14.35cm x 10cm
  • Pressed Petals – 13.85cm x 9.5cm
  • Garden Green Cardstock – 11.5cm x 4.5cm
  • Whisper White Cardstock – 11cm x 4cm

As mentioned previously this is a really simple card to make that goes back to the basics of card, ink and paper. I think sometimes we make such elaborate cards that we forget how effective just simple stamping can be.

Broadway Birthday – Wish – Birthday Card

Melon Mambo is one of my favourite colours and here I have combined it with another favourite, Bermuda Bay. I am totally in love with the combination. The wish sentiment is bold and bright and very much my style. Big and bold focal images make for easy cards with a great wow factor.

I have used a white gel pen to make the stitching lines and to give accents to the balloons. I think it really lifts the piece. The clear epoxy droplet on the dot of the I give it some real bling.

At this time of the year, the focus is on Christmas Crafting but this can mean we forget we still need cards for many other occasions. I, therefore, plan to scatter some non-Christmas projects in my videos right up to Christmas.

I’ve used Shaded Spruce as the green in this card. I sponged the wreath with Shaded Spruce to give the wreath some definition. The red rhinestones give it a nice bit of bling.

I love background stamps. I don’t think we always use them enough in cardmaking. The one used here is called Birch and gives the effect of an old wooden door.

Measurements

  • Shaded Spruce A6 Cardbase (This is an A4 sheet cut in half and then folded in half)
  • Whisper White 14.35cm x 10cm

I love wreaths at Christmas time. I have a few around the house. There are two fabric ones that I made out of scraps of fabric. I cut each piece of fabric into a square and then fold and stitch them to create a leaf. Each wreath has about 100 of these fabric leaves.

What handmade creations do you make for Christmas? Let me know below.

There are a video tutorial and supply list as always.
